During the winter the town cools down and the focus turns to snow sports. Ski and snowboard on the slopes of Haunold Mountain or try snowshoeing on the Dolomiti Nordic Ski trail. Come in January when artisans from around the world gather for the International Snow Sculpture Festival.
San Candido has a selection of fantastic restaurants along with hotels and guesthouses. Rome is just over 7 hours away by car, Florence is just over 5 hours and Verona a much easier 3-hour drive.
