The home is adorned with hand-troweled plaster walls and wood floors throughout. The spacious kitchen has handsome vigas and high-end appliances, beautiful traditional cabinetry, and lovely natural light, all which add to the ambiance. The dining and living rooms maintain the welcoming open feel, encouraging relaxed casual living. The living room, dining room, and master bedroom are all equipped with kiva fireplaces. The large, very private master suite features a sumptuous bath and a roomy walk-in closet. Other highlights include two additional bedrooms, each with king beds, and a fourth sleeping area which has a daybed, a pop-up trundle, and a queen size sleeper in the living room. This home can sleep up to 10 people and with 2,500 square feet of space, it will be comfortable for all. Enjoy the wonderful terrace facing the mountains with a large backyard overlooking the Santa Fe river. Fully fenced back yard with one-car garage, along with off street parking for three more. Central air conditioning and radiant heat will ensure your comfort whatever the weather.

The Experience

The home is located right on the Santa Fe River which gives guests immediate access to day hiking, playing in the water and listening to the sounds of river water flowing, all within steps of back yard. The home is also equipped with four bikes and helmets for guest use.

Added in the winter of 2021, a brand new hot tub and fire pit area in the fully fenced backyard add to the guest experience.

Dale Ball Trails: The Dale Ball Trail system is a 22 mile network of trails in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. These trails are popular for hiking and mountain biking and the trail heads are accessible by foot from the home. The trails offer great opportunities for beginners and advanced hikers/bikers alike, along with amazing views of the surrounding. Best new is dogs are allowed. You can make your loop as short or as long as you want: for example Loop 1,2,3 takes me about 1hr 15 min. This trail is very beginner friendly and not very technical.

Randall Davey Audubon Center & Sanctuary: The Audubon center is less than a mile walk from the home. Ranging from common to rare, approximately 190 species of birds can be found in or over the various ecosystems of this sanctuary. The sanctuary is free to the public and we have a few pairs of binoculars for use at the home to take with you.

The Neighborhood
Looking for that old Santa Fe charm? Welcome to the Historic Eastside neighborhood. Winding, unpaved roads lead to wildflower-filled gardens and classic adobe homes. Locals around here take pride in two things: their dirt roads and tall gardens. Odds are, your neighbor will have the best tomato patch you’ve ever seen, and quite possibly a small rabbit farm.

Walkability is the name of the game here. With proximity to Canyon Road arts district and downtown, you’ll hit that 10,000 daily step goal by midday. Sweet cafes, bookstores and upscale dining are just a stone’s throw away. Window shop over 80 art galleries on our famous Canyon Road. Feel like stretching your legs? Take a quick bike ride to the Plaza! Or grab a pair of binoculars and head over to the nearby Audubon.

A Day In The Life
Welcome to Canyon River!

Odds are, you’ve arrived late afternoon. Take it easy while you settle in. Maybe visit local bodega Kaune’s for the essentials; it’s just a 10 minute drive from here. This locally owned business has everything you need- from authentic New Mexico green chile to your favorite breakfast cereal!

Down the road, happy hour at El Farol is calling. Order a Prickly Pear Margarita and some freshly made chicharones. You’ll be feeling like a local in no time!

We recommend starting your mornings off at Downtown Subscription (an 8 minute drive), located at the corner of Garcia St and Acequia Madre. Pick up coffee and pastries for the house, or take a quiet morning for yourself with a latte and the paper.

Now that you’ve had your morning cup of joe, you’ve got the energy to take on those great outdoors! The Dale Ball Trailhead is a quick five minute walk away. Whether hiking, mountain biking or going for a trail run, these trails are perfect for beginners and advanced hikers alike.

Head west on Canyon Road and you’ll find yourself at brunch mecca, otherwise known as The Teahouse. With hundreds of teas to choose from, not to mention their stellar selection of eggs benedict- it’s no wonder locals and visitors alike love this place. Snag a seat on the sunny patio, order the strawberry shortcake and enjoy the people watching.

Santa Fe is known for its fantastic local art scene, and there’s no better place to start than Canyon Road. From Native American to contemporary, this street offers some of the world’s finest art collections. If you’re looking for souvenirs- pop into Marcy Street Card Shop, with a great selection of gifts as well as locally made art cards.
When it comes to world class dining, our town doesn’t disappoint! Dinner at Geronimo (10 minute drive) is a must while you’re here. Enjoy lobster, elk tenderloin and more circa this warm and elegant 1756-adobe home.

If you feel like staying in, a home-cooked meal is all too easy to prepare in the chef’s kitchen. A quick trip to the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market will fetch the best in local produce! Take a sunset hike around the grounds, or relax in your private garden with a glass of wine. Our world-famous, wide-open skies are ripe for stargazing

Very quiet river front property
The house is nice. Check in was super easy. The sheets were old, worn and synthetic so I went out and bought my own as well as a cotton blanket and better pillow. The towels are worn as well but I didn’t care about that. Bedding is another matter. Recommend bringing your own bedding if you are at all particular.

Spacious VRBO with Access to Hiking Trails and close to the heart of Santa Fe.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at this VRBO! The space was large and accommodating for our family of 6, and the fully stocked kitchen made it easy to cook our meals. The backyard was a highlight, with a cozy fireplace and plenty of blankets to keep us warm. The hot tub was a perfect touch for some relaxing star-gazing after a long day of hiking/biking on the extensive trail system nearby. The house is located far enough away from Santa Fe to be quiet, but close enough for easy exploration of the city. The only thing to be aware of is that there were goatheads (Puncturevine) in the backyard, so make sure to watch your step, and be careful if you have a dog. Overall, we would highly recommend this VRBO for anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway.

Hidden Gem
Our stay could not have been more perfect. The house was beautiful and fully stocked with everything you might need. Our family travels frequently and most often uses VRBO. This is by far the best property we've stayed at in all of our travels. It was clean, meticulously furnished, and the service was excellent. My husband and I especially loved the welcome gift and beautiful flowers upon arrival.

A beautiful home filled with every amenity you could need. Hiking and biking trails are right out your front door, gorgeous area of Santa Fe. We like to cook and the kitchen was very well stocked with quality cookware and accessories. Not your everyday rental home, highly recommended!

As advertised!
One of, if not the nicest, place we have rented from VRBO. Once the AC got properly fixed, we absolutely loved the place. Pros: Extremely clean! Kudos to the cleaning team and their promptness allowed me to check in one hour early and drop our bags off before heading to the airport to pick up the family. The trails right outside the front door were very enjoyable for our doggies. The kitchen was very functional and very well equipped. We ate out on the patio almost every morning and evening. This was a working vacay and, at time, all four of us were on computers and Zooms. The wifi handled it all seamlessly. Thank goodness since normal cellular was near non-existent (just use Wifi calling and you are good). The only "con" would be that the door to the back yard doesn't have a screen door. This is a common complaint of mine at other locations as well. The AC being out wouldn't have been as big of an issue if we could have left the door open for air flow but leaving it open offered an opportunity for flies to come in so we couldn't. On days when the AC would not be needed, it would be so great to have the opportunity to leave the doors open for fresh mountain air if only bugs could be kept out! Thanks for having us.
