Great Hotel!
We loved this hotel and the very professional people that worked there. They have nice clean rooms and very fast internet. The location is a short walk to all the best restaurants and is near the Exito Supermarket. They also were happy to store our extra bags while we went to Tayrona National Park. Would stay there again for sure.

Nice, quite, clean
I was impressed by this hotel. It was super clean, very nice, and quite. The staff were accommodating. The breakfast for 10,000 pesos was cooked to order and delicious.
It was a 5 minute walk to the tourist scene with restaurants, etc. I've stayed in other parts of this area of Santa Marta for $20 a night and this hotel is waaaay nicer. I'll be back!

Estuve hospedada en Hotel Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta durante una semana para mi viaje a Ciudad Perdida. El servicio por los empleados de recepción, cocina y limpieza fue excelente. Y el lugar muy limpio y tranquilo.

Super Value!
I had a great stay at the Hotel Sierra Nevada. Rooms were tiny but very clean and comfortable. The AC worked well and at night the room was quiet so I had no problems sleeping. They don't have hot water in the rooms but I didn't find that a problem. The water wasn't cold so was refreshing after the heat outside. The breakfast which was included was very good and fresh. And everyone was so friendly! Location was nice, walking distance to everything. And all this at a great price, I definitely reccomend it.

The service was excellent from check-in to check-out. The hotel seems new and modern. Bairon the desk clerk was welcoming and everyone was great. 10 minutes before breakfast time was over they called us to remind us and insisted to bring the breakfast to our room when they saw we would not be on time for it. I was very impress. They gave us the extra towels when needed. I wish the room was bigger, it was crowded for 4 people, but it was beautiful, modern, and AC was excellent. You need excellent AC in Santa Marta. The location was not the best. The Santa Marta Beach is not what it used to be and the neighborhood is not vacation like it is more a residential area and not very appealing. We did feel safe and welcomed. I would stay again if I am in the area. I simply prefer Rodadero over Santa Marta beach for the quality of the beach. We are grateful for the staff because they went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed.

Staff great - hotel infrastructure could be better
The reception staff - Hernan, Lina and Byron - were great...happy to use a translator if you don't speak Spanish and helpful with information about Santa Marta and any facility within the hotel that would make your stay better. The cleaning staff were great too...
I paid about 35US a night including breakfast..and although that's ok deal wise- I have 3 issues with the hotel itself
1) No hot water for showers. I know Santa Marta is hot - as are other places in Colombia but that's no excuse for enabling a customer to use water for a shower that would be hotter than tap water.
Also some of the rooms are very boxy with no windows to the outside :(
2) They were happy to let me use the fridge but it was quite packed out with their own breakfast and staff lunch foodstuffs - so if a few people wanted to keep even a little stuff there wouldn't be any room
3) Minor point perhaps - but there was only local news and CNN Espanol at a time when lots of things are happening in France and the UK. Asked the hotel to consider upping their TV provider package so International guests could watch news from home (BBC/CNN-English-DWT-French news etc)
