We had the top floor, mountain view apartment. It is so worth paying the extra for one of the top floor rooms.
Everything is very high standard. Spotless and modern.
Just a few minutes walk to town and to lovely bars, shops and restaurants. Plenty to choose from.
Also a short, scenic drive to all the monestaties.

I would recommend staying in Kastraki where this property is located. The village is very relaxed and the views of the spires are much better than those in larger Kalabaka.
