Luxurious private villa with breathtaking views & beautiful resort amenities

THE LOCATION

Set between the resort’s two infinity pools and just a few minutes walk to our stunning, tranquil beach, we love our location, as it offers privacy that can be hard to find in a resort AND views that are second to none!

THE VILLA

The Villa is a 2,200 sq ft split level, with kitchen, living room, dining room, and full laundry on the main floor, a powder room half-way up the stairs, and 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and large balcony upstairs. After an extensive renovation, during which we focused on local materials and preserving the Costa Rican vibe, the Villa features natural stone flooring, solid wood cabinetry and furniture, upscale large and small appliances, and in the dining room, a bamboo ceiling. The front of the Villa opens up via two sets of French doors to let the outside in. Views from every room on both levels are second to none.

Upstairs, the master bedroom and ensuite are furnished with gorgeous pochote wood. Both the master and second bedrooms walk out to a large balcony where you can savor your morning coffee as you watch the howler monkeys swinging in the trees, or whales, dolphins, and manta rays swimming by in the bay. The third bedroom looks out the other direction over the islands of the Gulf of Papagayo.

Local artwork and prints of scenery from around the area decorate the walls.

The villa is equipped with a high quality water filtration system to ensure your drinking water and ice are absolutely pure. High speed Internet is also provided.

THE OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE

In Costa Rica, your outdoor space is just as important as what’s indoor. At our Villa, the expansive outdoor living area is furnished with vibrant and cozy furniture that you can curl up in to read a book, enjoy your breakfast, or watch the local wildlife such as monkeys, iguanas, and coatimundi which are all frequent visitors. The panoramic beach and ocean views make hanging out in the outdoor living space special, as whales, dolphins, schools of tuna, and manta rays can often be seen cruising by or frolicking out in front of the resort.

RELAXING AND DINING

If you are looking for complete relaxation, why leave the property? With a spacious outdoor living area complete with comfortable furniture perfect for snoozing, and room service or a private chef a phone call away, you need never lift a finger. For a change of scenery, chill beside the upper infinity pool or lunch and nap at the beachfront pool and restaurant before your afternoon massage on the beach. If you prefer cooking, you will LOVE the gorgeous new solid wood and quartz kitchen, and dining under the stars on the expansive patio, listening to the waves washing up on the shore below.

The on-site restaurant, Maracuya Beach Club, is set on the beach beside one of the resort’s two infinity pools. Offering local and North American cuisine, along with a full bar service, Maracuya has been the recipient of many awards for culinary and mixology excellence. As well as poolside dining, they offer meal delivery to your villa, weekly live music, mixology classes, and even cooking classes in right in your kitchen.

VENTURING OUT

On the days you want adventure, the area offers all the eco-tourism options Costa Rica is famous for. Experience endless fun and adrenalin — from sport fishing to ziplining, from wildlife tours to scuba diving, river cruises, coffee plantation tours, and visits to local artisan communities. Local operators offer pickup from the villa, or from the beach if you are heading out on the water. Activities and tours can be booked through the on-site concierge.

The lively village of Playas del Coco is 3 miles from the resort, offering plenty of options for groceries and local crafts, along with many wonderful restaurants and bars. Out favorites are listed in the information binder you’ll find in the villa.

Amazing Property
Such an amazing property! We have used VRBO rentals for years and this villa is over the top! My husband and myself with our son and his wife stayed and were so impressed with the decorating and touches from local artisans. We chose to stay up the hill instead of by the beach so it is a trek to make it to the beach and back in the heat. The onsite restaurant was amazing as was Farmer Rooster's restaurant. The road to the property is quite hilly and unpaved at times but if you take is slow you will be fine. I would suggest a first aid kit for the villa but other than that, we loved the sound of the howler monkeys in the morning and the continued variety of birds making calls. We even had a crab walk across the patio!

Villa was very clean and well appointed. Recently upgraded. Roomy and tropical. Beach restaurant on site was better than any in Playas del Coco. Restaurant staff very friendly, professional. Costa Rican people are beautiful and friendly and were the highlight of my trip.

Perfect mix of Luxury and Nature
The Villa and property are very well maintained, clean, and the staff on site were very helpful. We like the feeling of having all of our normal amenities (TV, Internet, AC) but also being close to nature. Just stepping out on the back patio provided a good dose of the natural surroundings. Various Birds, racoons, geckos, Leaf-cutter ants, praying mantis all made an appearance for the 5 days we stayed. At night we heard the howler monkey's in the distance as well. Very cool! The property manager was on the spot with helping and suggestions. The property itself was a little off the beaten path and took awhile to find at night, but the view once we found it was amazing. Well worth a little hunt. Super quiet and private. The VRBO map pin makes the unit look like it's down closer to the water, but you wouldn't have the awesome ocean view this unit has tucked up a little higher on the mountain. We ate at the clubhouse only once and it was very good. Awesome beach setting. I wish we had more time to explore the beach down in the cove, but we had other plans. Hopefully next time!

Celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with friends.
Communications with Roxi the owner were excellent, and the villa was everything described and more. Very peaceful and relaxing. Jacky and Cesar at the resort were great. They booked all our transportation. Van to and from the airport, rental car delivered to the villa, multiple massages for our group and multiple excursions. We loved them all and they were all reasonably priced. Resort restaurant was amazing and we ate there at least once a day. We ate a meal in Cocoa beach every day and they were always very good to amazing. Service was always good but remember you're on Costa Rican time. You wont be pushed out of the restaurant and you will want to let them know right away if you're in a hurry. Pool and beach area we as described and we were at the pool/ beach everyday. Howler monkeys were at the beach for a couple days and we saw/ heard them around the resort every day. We booked the Trimaran excursion with the waterslide. Had a great time. Swimming, snorkeling, drinks and snacks were great. I would especially recommend booking with Kuna Vela sailing tours. The crew picked up our group of 6 on the beach and took us to the boat for a private snorkel and sailing trip. We had the boat to ourselves and Captain Israel and first mate Andres took such good care of us with amazing heavy snacks and whatever we could think of for drinks. Thanks again to Roxi for sharing their amazing villa and our group would definitely book again.

Just what we needed!
So enjoyed our stay here. The house was perfect for what we needed and Roxi was very helpful and informative when needed. The walk down and back up from the beach was a great workout, if we stayed longer we’d be in excellent shape. 😊 Totally loved the privacy of the house, the help from Cesar et al., the good eating at the restaurant and the smaller beach.

Wonderful visit to Bahia Pez Vela resort
Villa 29 is perfect. Very clean and spacious, and of course the wonderful view of the ocean from the expansive patio where we spent most of our time outside. Good idea to have a vehicle to get around and to the market, as well as some trips up and down the steep driveway to the beach when you don’t have the energy to walk it. We enjoyed a catamaran cruise and snorkeling one afternoon. Another morning we had a fishing charter leave right from our beach. Lucky enough to catch a Mahi Mahi, which the chef expertly prepared for us at the restaurant that evening. All the staff at the resort were great including the concierge managers, Cesar and Jacky. All considered, a very fun trip …. a little bit of an adventure in beautiful Costa Rica.

Lovely views, lots of space
The villa is a full 200' elevation above the beach, restaurant, and main pool. It is a really steep and laborious climb; or you can drive. The villa is spacious and congenially laid out, with good appliances. The quality of the furnishings is not what I would call luxurious, but everything is entirely serviceable. Everyone associated with the resort was pleasant and happy to help. There is a guard at the entrance and my wife and I always felt safe. The beach is private to the resort (about 40 villas) and thus not crowded. It is mostly black sand, but fine and comfortable for the feet. The main pool is near the beach and restaurant, and was rarely crowded (if sometimes hard to find chairs in the shade). The food at the resort restaurant was adequate (but not something to look forward to) and priced at the high end. There are many dining options nearby, a mix of imports ("Taste of Texas"), party scenes ("Get Hammered") and generally mediocre. The local places with rice/bean platters and fresh fish were our best experiences. And preparing light meals at the villa. Downtown Coco is one main street which is a pure and ugly tourist trap. But once you get a half a block away from there there is ample local and authentic feel. The drive from Coco to the villa is ~10m down a narrow, bumpy, poorly-lit route with many turns and lots of pedestrians, motor bikes, and other vehicles. That distance provides privacy, though I found the road a bit stressful.

This is our second trip to Costa Rica, our first trip to Bahia Pez Vela. The home itself was beautiful, well stocked, and immaculate, as well as the grounds. The view was incredible. It was a bit of a hike to get back from the beach or Soluna, but well worth it. The staff and Roxi were very attentive and we encountered zero issues during our stay. The availability of excursions and quality of tours were perfect for our family with teens. I highly recommend this property!

A must stay for Pura Vida!
The communication with Roxi was superb. She was prompt and helpful with great suggestions to enjoy your stay at the property. This residence is perfectly situated for great patio views and everything you need for a romantic getaway or family adventure. The beach is quiet and remote enough for privacy. Definitely visit both pools. The sunset from the top pool is spectacular. I also highly recommend splurging for the private chef to come to the house and spoil you for your last night. Although you could take a cab or some sort of lift, I would highly recommend a rental car because the property is close enough to get to playa coco but remote enough (thankfully so) that you will want a mode of transportation to drive into town, groceries etc. I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful property and its owners!!!

We loved our time at this villa in Costa Rica! The villa has amazing views, comfortable beds and an amazing kitchen. The resort is beautiful and meticulously maintained. The owner provided detailed information that we needed and checked in on us after our arrival to see if we needed anything. The resort arranged transportation to and from the airport, our car rental and our excursions. The staff (especially Sebastian) at the beach club were all kind and helpful. Amazing Views - Wonderful Villa
Our stay at the villa on the Bahia Pez Vela resort was fantastic. Roxi has done a great job of making sure everything you'd need while staying there was available. Both the upper and lower balconies were well used as we enjoyed watching the various birds in the trees and listening to the howler monkeys. The villa is at the top of the hill at the resort and as other people have stated, it is a steep walk from the lower pool/beach/restaurant area so if you forget something at the pool or beach, it will be a long walk up the hill. That said, they have a great infinity pool on the hill as well that is smaller but much more private - and still a spectacular view. Roxi (the host) was very quick to communicate regarding any questions you might have related to the villa, and Cesar and the team in the concierges office was very helpful as well. We would definitely come back and stay there again!

We can't say enough good things about this property. Our Villa was gorgeous, immaculate inside, landscaping was beautiful, and everything worked as is it should. The views, especially the sunset, were stunning. This Villa, as all of the Villas are in this resort, are separate/stand alone units, this provides for privacy and peace and quiet. The resort staff are all very friendly. The two resort concierge staff we dealt with, Cesar and Abigail are two of the nicest, most helpful folks you will come across.

It was an exceptional place. Not if you re not a fan of hills then you won’t like the amazing perch this property has. Important thing we learned is there is an infinity pool just 3 minute walk up the road and it was quiet and outstanding. If being on a beach is vital, then this isnt it. But for us, it was exceptional.

Amazing stay!
This was our 2nd time at this small but upscale resort, this time in a different villa. This villa was fantastic, amazing views, and had everything we needed for a great stay. The owner is helpful and available, and the resort staff are too. The restaurant, pool and beach are wonderful. It is a short invigorating walk from the beach to the villa - well worth it for the amazing views from the decks. The upstairs deck was as comfortable and inviting as the main floor terrace - all with great views of the hillsides, water and if you’re an early riser, birds! I enthusiastically recommend this rental!

The villa is carefully designed for comfort, views, and in relation to the landscape. Kitchen is great for cooking, with several areas for eating/dining, each with its own special feel and view. Beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and open on sweeping balconies. Everything is immaculate, including the large terraces. The entire resort is very special, with its own secluded beach of fine volcanic sand, and managed by lovely and very professional staff.

A great trip
The view is incredible, and it’s very quiet, we felt like we were the only people there . The safety of the resort is of note, we felt very safe. They really take it serious. There is a manned guard gate . We enjoyed the house very much . I cooked every meal and the kitchen was well equipped. I used the blender nearly every day using the incredible local delicious fruit. The Only really super annoying thing was the WiFi, it needed to be reset daily and several times in one day . Unsure of reason but was frustrating. Roxi was very attentive and made sure we were ok as tropical storm Bonnie came through while we were there. Take advantage of the office and their ability to book tours for you . The tours they sent us on were AMAZING!! We saw people getting picked up from the beach for fishing expeditions. Oh and the beach , wow! It’s volcanic black sand. It’s just incredible The beds were very comfortable and definitely NOT cheap that was much appreciated. You can hear the howler monkeys from the porch and the mag pies are very friendly.
