Originally built in a different location on the corner of Jefferson and Hull in 1808, the home was relocated to its current location at Bay and Price in 1968. When you arrive at the rental for your stay, take a moment to look for the numbers etched into the home's exposed beams to see the placement markers used by architects when reconstructing the home. There's simply no comparison between this home and other Savannah vacation rentals if you're dreaming of spending some time in a Southern estate by the river!

Welcome to Spanish Moss Inn: A Look Inside One of the Most Captivating Savannah Vacation Homes

Take a minute to soak in a large front porch accented by classic touches like black shutters, potted plants and ceiling fans that scatter the breeze. In addition to a beautiful gas stove with stainless-steel hood, you'll enjoy a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. All of your cooking essentials are waiting inside the kitchen. There's also a large walk-in pantry situated just off of the kitchen that features storage, a utility sink and an auxiliary refrigerator.

It's now time to enter what many would consider to be the highlight of the home! Spanish Moss Inn features a beautiful glassed-in sunroom that is fully furnished with a dining table, hutch and extra seating. This portion of the home leads directly to your private courtyard that is peppered with umbrella-topped patio tables. Plan a little cookout any day of the week using your private outdoor grill.

The bedrooms of Spanish Moss Inn are easily the most impressive "suites" found in any Savannah vacation rentals. Every single bedroom in this home features a king-sized bed with access to its own private full-sized bathroom! Every aspect of the home's bedrooms and bathrooms will delight you with the quality and attention to detail you're observing! No expense has been spared when decorating these bedrooms with large, high-end furnishings that provide space for storage and relaxation. The bathrooms feature touches like high-end, marble-topped vanities, beautiful tiles and oversized showers or tubs. In addition to the five full bathrooms accompanying the bedrooms, a half bathroom is located off of the home's main living area. The home also has its own washer-dryer setup.

While this home may have a rich, fascinating history going back two centuries, you can rest assured that it will fit all of your modern tastes in terms of amenities and technology! Guests enjoy air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and flat-panel televisions. Touches like keypad entry, ample outdoor lighting and off-street parking for one vehicle make entering and exiting this rental property a breeze for guests. Prior to your arrival, the home will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in anticipation of your stay. Finally, Spanish Moss Inn comes with free access to a resort-style heated pool located at 19 Silver Avenue in Tybee Island. In for awedding
We came for a family wedding. The home was walking distance from the venue and nearby shops and restaurants. It is nice to have a place to stay that still provides each person the privacy they would not have at a hotel without several rooms. We were very happy with our stay.

Fabulous!
Property is so conveniently located to River St. that you can walk everywhere. Once we parked the car in the garage we did not get back in it until we left Savannah. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked. Would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.

The location of this house is great for access to shops and restaurants. There are a few things that need some attention in the house, but overall we enjoyed our stay and were able to have a great time!

Great property
Location is amazing. History of house is amazing. Was able to see large ships from front porch. Only real negatives are the in room portable AC units and the community pool. Hard to install AC ducts in a historic house and appreciated them as it was hot when we were there. Community pool is a drive to get to and very small. Just pivoted and went to the beach instead once we saw it in person.

Wonderful house in an excellent location!
Our group of seven women who met MANY years ago but now live in states from Alaska to Florida normally have a difficult time finding a house like this. This home is exceptional because it has: 5 bedrooms, each with a beautiful king bed and a bathroom, a garage to save hassles of parking, a sun room and backyard terrace, a super front porch from which to observe historic Savannah, a responsive host team, and best of all, AN EXCELLENT LOCATION!!!

Great location
The location was great and I loved the king beds. Outdoor setup was also really nice along with plenty of space. The upstairs bedroom was warm even with the AC. Getting in was very easy and the check out process was very quick with minimal lift (no stripping beds, loading washing machine, garbage bin effort, etc.). It was a bit musty upon arrival but I think it is just the nature of the old house. Overall it is a great spot to stay if you are looking to explore Savannah with a group of people.

I would rent this home again.
For being the age that the house is, it was in pretty good condition. Everyone that stayed in the house during our vacation loved the home and looked up some of the history on it since it was actually moved from another location in Savannah. We plan to rent the house again in the future.

Awesome stay!
We loved this house for our girls weekend in Savannah. The location was perfect, walkable to almost everywhere we wanted to go. It was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed its historic vibes. The only negative was the critter living in the house. We could hear it running around and it also got into a package of toilet paper in the middle of the night.

Thanksgiving retreat
The property was very clean and spacious. We had 10 adults and never felt crowded at all. Location is great, you are on the main road, and can hear the traffic. The fire pit didn’t work, they tried to fix it but think it just needs to be replaced. Would stay here again if looking for a large spacious home.

Great Place for a group Bachelorette Trip
This was a great place to stay with a large group. We had a lot of space to move about for the different activities that we had planned. On top of that, we didn't have to Uber to any of our locations around Savannah. Our longest walk was 12 minutes and the area is cute to walk around. It was a great bonus to get to stay in such an old and historic house!

Great Location and Great Communication
I rented this property for my sister’s bachelorette party. There was 10 girls total and everyone was able to sleep in a bed. All beds were King size which was very nice! We were also walking distance to pretty much everything!! When arriving everything was clean except the beds. They seemed to have been stripped but the bedding was wadded up on the beds. We contacted the office and they immediately sent someone out to fix this. We also lost power on 2 floors and after contacting the office they sent someone out right away. Even with these issues, we were very pleased with the response time! The office even allowed us to check out late due to this. I would definitely stay here again and recommend for a large group!

Many Quirks and Concerns
Spanish Moss Inn is an old building, so expect some frustrating issues. The pass code only worked on the back door. The front door is not usable - locked outside and inside - so the main exit available was the back door. Not real safe conditions. Some kitchen outlets (including a GFI outlet) did not work when we arrived; we learned later that it was caused by a closed circuit breaker in a oddly located circuit box. Also, several outlets in the 3rd floor bedroom were not working. We found they are connected to the GFI outlet in the bathroom. Note that bedroom is not connected to the main HVAC system; it is cooled by a room A/C, which wasn't working. We had to search for some portable fans to help cool the bedroom by blowing air from the [cool] hallway into the room. After advising the management team about the issue, they sent a repairman to get it working. However, it was extremely noisy and didn't cool too well. BTW, the Inn supplies only one bath towel and one washcloth per person in each bedroom. And it only provides one kitchen washcloth and towel. Bring your own towels! Note that the 3rd floor bathroom is very small, particularly the shower; also, the toilet and sink are placed directly under some rather low rafters; I accidentally banged my head on them several times. Two of the bedrooms are in the basement, which was a bit damp. The floors on the first floor were rather dirty when we checked in.

Grand Old House
The house is a large, grand old house within walking distance to many things. The common areas and bedrooms are large and decorated in high quality period furniture. The house is clean and the beds are very comfortable. Towels were large and fluffy. The following are worth noting: The house is on a busy street, some areas need some TLC (exterior, kitchen, basement door, stairwells), the baths and showers are not oversized as indicated in the description, two bedrooms are in the basement and one is on the 3rd floor, a few airvents need to be cleaned, furniture and knicknacks could be reduced to make the house flow better and feel less cluttered.

Property Improvements
This property needs many minor repairs. A few days before checking in we received an email indicating the main refrigerator was not working and the oven door would not close completely but was useable. A new refrigerator was supposed to show up Thursday but was never delivered. When entering the property, we saw a broken pot at the bottom of the steps and the screen on the back door had huge holes in it. When entering the dining room, we noticed a cushion broken on one of the chairs and the glass tabletop on the dining room table was chipped in many places around the edges. When entering some of the bedrooms we noticed that the ceilings needs to be repaired. They appeared as if they had water damage from leaks in pipes or leaks from the roof. The rooms in the basements are very dark and are in need of better lighting. The hallway going down to the bedrooms in the basement is very narrow. When we tried to enjoy the outdoor gas firepit, the tank was empty. When we put the umbrellas up outside around the tables and plugged in the lighting on the umbrellas, maybe half of the light bulbs worked. We picked up broken beer bottles and papers around the outside of the house. Not a great first impression. It's all these little things and more that if addressed could made this property so much nicer. We enjoyed our time at the Spanish Moss House, but this old house is in need of many repairs.

It Grew on Us
When we first arrived I was put off by exterior missing/broken shingles, moldy patio umbrellas and inability to get in the front door with the code. Could only be entered through the back and was assaulted by a not quite musty but off-putting smell inside. But then as we spent some time, it was great. Aired it out a bit and over time and exploring the city, realized the smell was probably due to the proximity to the water. It would benefit from some plug-in air fresheners throughout. The house has a lot of room, huge bedrooms, and noise originating inside the house from others is hard to hear. If you are in a bedroom facing the road, it is a MAJOR rush hour thoroughfare and SUPER loud with a of of trucks starting at 6am. Plan ahead to have white noise playing if you want to sleep. The back patio is a quiet place to hang out. Plenty of room for everyone but it could use some comfortable extra seating in the living room. Lots and lots of side tables, but not enough couch/armchair seating. My bed was comfortable and the house was clean. Easy walk to everything we wanted to do. The house really grew on me during our stay and we really enjoyed it. Would recommend to others.
