Cool off and enjoy attractions that will delight the whole family at Schlitterbahn Waterpark. In 2009, Kansas City became the home of Schlitterbahn Waterpark’s first location outside Texas. Since its debut, it has become one of the region’s most popular destinations.
Schlitterbahn has made waiting in line a thing of the past with the Transportainment river system. A network of waterways a mile (1.6 kilometres) long allows visitors to float from one attraction to another without ever leaving the river. The park’s Splash Cash system lets guests add money to a waterproof card before they embark on their adventure so they don’t have to worry about carrying money or credit cards.
Although Kansas is a landlocked state, Schlitterbahn brings elements of the ocean to its guests with Torrent River, where you can cruise along the tidal-wave waterway. Ride the waves and show off your surfing skills at Boogie Bahn to complete your ocean-inspired adventure.
Climb aboard the Storm Blaster to experience one of the country’s first uphill water coasters. Part roller coaster and part water slide, the ride is one-of-a-kind.
Younger visitors can play captain for the afternoon aboard the Pirate Ship, and lounge areas allow parents to supervise and relax simultaneously. Kinderhaven features shallow pools and a giant fountain, creating a refreshing destination for guests of all ages.
Pair a heated pool with your favourite cocktail in Henry’s Hideout. The swim-up bar is an ideal place to relax after riding one of the park’s six water slides. If you’d prefer to unwind out of the water, rent a private cabana for the afternoon or lounge on one of the park’s beaches.
Schlitterbahn is open from May through September. The family-owned park stands out by offering free parking, tubes, boogie boards and life jackets. Visitors are also welcome to bring along picnic lunches from home. If you don’t want to pack a meal, take advantage of the snack and beverage kiosks that are stationed throughout the park. Downtown Kansas City is located 15 miles (24.1 kilometres) to the east.
