We LOVED the view from the balcony. Seeing the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles, along with the sunsets and thunderstorms behind the mountains was an unmatched experience.
The location was incredibly walkable/bikeable for getting around. Less than 2 miles for anything you need, including some great restaurants and breweries, and you can ride bicycles or ebikes very easily almost everywhere.
The area as a whole is quiet and peaceful. The unit itself is clean, roomy and has almost anything you’d need in an apartment. There was some basic damage when we got there (broken window shade, drywall chipped on a column, etc.), all normal stuff.
Silke, the owner is very sweet and will try to do whatever it takes to make things work.
Our single largest issue was not knowing a lot of the basics up front, ALL OF WHICH could easily be incorporated into the VRBO page.
We are strong advocates for knowing as much as possible up front when we book a place. Hidden fees (not clearly shown at time of booking), can be stressful and in many cases onerous. The short stay fee of 120€ for less than 4 days is located in "House Rules" (not in Additional information about rental rates”), is written in German and requires one to click on "See More". In fact, it is the ONLY part of this particular VRBO location site that does NOT translate. So if you don't speak German, you have to have it translated for you.
The guest fee and hygiene fees weren't mentioned either, and none of the three additional fees were mentioned at check out. ALL the hidden fees (145,5€, representing an approximate 33% increase in the rental) were required to be paid in cash.
The refrigerator turned OFF, not even on low, even though they knew we were coming.
Surprisingly, hand soap was not provided.
Getting on the internet was a fiasco. There were two different networks and we had to move near the front door to access the router which was one floor below. The WIFI was worse than our phone data, so we turned it off.
While there to collect the cash, it was uncomfortably obvious the property manager was casing the apartment to see how we were living in it. The property manager also asked us to shut windows if it's raining. but there is no air conditioning, although in the amenities it says there IS air conditioning. However, that wasn’t an issue when there was a nice breeze.
It also says there’s a dryer, but we couldn’t find one. We did find a drying rack.
