"The initial arrival when we parked in the public parking raised some concerns, however the lovely hotel security lady quickly intervened and directed us to the proper hotel parking, from that point it was fantastic! The room was spotless, big and well appointed. But THE VIEWS!… WOW!!! The hotel certainly lives up to the name! The staff were all brilliant from the moment we arrived to the point we had to sadly check out. We will be back again!!"
"My husband and I were so looking forward to finally staying here. We come to South Africa yearly and stay for a couple months bc he is from here and we treated ourselves for my 40th birthday. However; we were super disappointed with this hotel. Our room needed maintenance and smelled of mildew, there was construction going on in the room next door and also right outside our patio the whole time, (I thought this would be a peaceful nature retreat) there was no ac, we weren’t allowed to use the bathtub or outdoor heated jacuzzi bc there was a drought (main reason I booked this hotel) the staff was always on their phones, we were told the restaurant was all booked up the day we arrived so we had to do room service which only starts at 6 pm and serves pizza or pasta?! The towels in the room all smelled of gasoline and manure, the list goes on! I’m not one to write a negative review but we paid over $300/night at this “luxury” hotel which is a lot in South Africa and this place was just not worth it at all. "
"Brenton on the Rocks is, without a doubt, one of the most magnificent guesthouses I have ever experienced. Perched right on the cliffs, the location is breathtaking, but it’s the hospitality and attention to detail that truly set it apart.
What We Loved:
• The Setting: There is a beautiful, hidden private beach accessible via a path directly from the property. It felt like our own secret paradise.
• The Room & Property: Our suite was beautifully appointed and decorated with impeccable taste. The high-end finishes and the "little things" throughout the property constantly delighted us.
• The Food & View: The meals were amazing. We spent our breakfasts in the dining area mesmerized by dolphins playing in the waves below—a truly unforgettable start to the day.
• Superior Service: The owner, Nico, and his daughter were incredibly attentive and accommodating. They went out of their way to arrange both an early check-in and a late check-out for us, making our stay seamless.
• Convenience: Having a secure parking garage with direct, easy access to our room provided great peace of mind and convenience.
The level of care and incredible attention to detail here is rare. I cannot recommend this guesthouse highly enough to anyone traveling in the area. I am already counting down the days until my next visit!"
"Run down, weathered and aged property. Mediocre service. Felt like a ghost town. Facilities in a poor state of repair. Big rooms, tastefully decorated but aged. No smart TV. Porter service slow and only for bags. Guests must walk. Restaurant operates with limited menu and staff. No restaurants close by - you’ll have to travel at least 20m to George. Great location for downtime but need to up their game on service and amenities and the facilities need a revamp and maintenance."
