Fantastic Stay

Fantastic house in a great location

An oasis in the wilderness.
An amazing property perched in the rugged landscape. Comfortable, spacious and clean. All the amenities you could need to stay and relax. Great bedrooms, stunning views, excellent hot tub. Overall a perfect place to stay in Iceland.

Very well comfortable home with a great location near the golden circle
The home has everything you need to easily cook meals in. The beds were very comfortable. We loved the living room with large windows and a fireplace. Great location for visiting the golden circle and an easy day trip to Vik. Perfect way to relax after busy days hiking. When we return we will definitely stay at this home again.

We had a great time staying at Grund - a spacious, clean house away from everything and equipped with all we needed to relax. Watching the aurora from the hot tub is a highlight and a must!

Stayed with the family (6 adults) for 5 days in this wonderful house - great space, very well equipped and finished, and all had a very good experience. Hot tub has a lovely location, and combined with the steam room was a lovely way to end the day

Great Stay In Selfoss
We had a wonderful family vacation in Selfoss. The house was very comfortable for our family of 8. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate many dinners at home. Having several grocery stores close by was a plus. The location was also perfect for touring the Golden Circle.

What a great place and location!!

Perfect home base!
We stayed here six nights while exploring Iceland in March. It was just the four of us, so we could have gone with a smaller place, but this house was just perfect for us. We loved the cozy living room in the evenings and the kitchen had everything we needed to have breakfast and a few dinners at home. The beds were comfortable and we LOVED that the floors were so warm. We made use of the hot tub most evenings. Thor was great to communicate with and the perfect host. Would love to come back again!

Was very nice stay overall
The property was very beautiful and clean. Thorsteinn was easy to get ahold of and very helpful the few times we needed his help. Guest house heat was too hot and we could not turn down heating. Location very nice and secluded but also close enough to town for restaurants & grocery store. Was close enough to many fun things to do and see.

Great Location for day trips
Very comfortable for our family. Thorsteinn was a great host, very responsive and answered all of the quesions we had. The house is perfect for day trips along the south. 45 min to Reykavik, 1 hour to Blue Lagoon, 2 hours to Vik and the Black Sand Beach. (Waterfalls along the way) Saw the Northern Lights on most clear nights, simply amazing. Selfoss is about a 15 minute ride where you can get everything you need. Can't recommend Iceland or this property enough!

Almost excellent
Could have used more information in writing in the house on systems/appliances (e.g., washer/dryer, dishwasher). The door between bathroom and two downstairs BRs needs to be shaved; it is sticking. Given such small BRs on the main level, there should at least be some shelves and/or more hooks. The sofa is REALLY worn; otherwise, the common area is excellent and attractive for a group of our size.

Great Golden Circle spot for viewing Northern Lights
We enjoyed the large, clean, modern, space away from the city lights. Our party of nine adults fit well with the size of the property. We stayed four nights, taking advantage of the location for daytrips toward Vik, to the Westman Islands, and Geysir/Gulfoss/Secret Lagoon. Being close to Selfoss provided us with restaurant options. Host Thorsteinn made checkin and checkout easy. He also quickly replied to our questions. We would happily stay again with a similar group.

Good location, responsive host
Host is very responsive and helpful. The house is nice size and the shower rooms are big. Good location and convenient for road trips to different parts of the island. Plenty of appliances and fully stocked pantry. The dryer did not work properly so be aware of that.

Week long stay in Nov 2023
Nine of stayed here for 8 nights and it was awesome. Nine people fit perfectly; could have had another teen or small children. We had an amazing time and felt very comfortable. We were fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights one night!! The home had everything we needed in terms of the kitchen being stocked, towels, bedding, etc. I would highly recommend. We also didn't realize the great proximity to so many sights so we were pleasantly surprised how close things were. We loved going into Selfoss to shop and eat on a few occasions.

Beautiful Home with Lots of Amenities
Our family loved our stay! The house was beautiful and full of amenities. We cooked in every night, and the kitchen was prepped with all the cookware we could need. The super-automatic coffee-maker was put to good use every morning, providing us with ample delicious coffee through the day! Our kids loved the upstairs media / game room, which gave them a great space to spend time. All in all, the house was beautiful and the location was perfect for exploring the Golden Circle.

Great place to stay in golden circle area
We really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for us to spread out. The kitchen was well stocked and we did cook a few meals there. The hot tub and shower were nice as well. Easy drive from there to all the golden circle activities and we did drive down the south coast from there but it is a bit longer drive. Highly recommend the tomato greenhouse restaurant, it was delicious and unique. We did make reservations. There are several good restaurants in selfoss too. Weather was a bit harsh so make sure you bring water proof clothing. Overall we loved our stay and would highly recommend this vrbo.

Awesome place, just a little complicated to operate
The house is beautiful and just as described. The owner was very communicative and overall it was a great experience. The only gripe I have is with the hot tub. You have to heat it up with a hose that runs hour water from a sink in a nearby shed. In cold weather, this doesn't bring in enough hot water to actually heat it. The hot tub was the main reason we rented the house, so this was disappointing, but the rest of the house is beautiful, the location was great, and the sauna was fantastic. If they can figure out the hot tub, I'd stay again. If that's not important to you, or having a sauna use good enough, definitely stay here.

Great location and home
Our family recently visited Iceland and stayed at this lovely home. It is located conveniently near some major touring sites and not far from the Ring Rd. Unfortunately, we arrived and had no water for 4 days. The property manager was very kind to reimburse us some back for this terrible inconvenience. The house is large and has a nice large deck which we enjoyed our meals from outside with a very nice view. Unfortunately, the hot tub does not have jets, so it's more like sitting in a very hot tub. Despite the lack of hot water (that was an issue throughout the area we were told), we really enjoyed this beautiful home.
