My husband and I with two other couples and our dog stayed a week at the Gasthouse in late winter/very early spring. We hiked, walked, cooked, played games, did puzzles and hung out by the fire. Overall the property was clean and we loved the location. The size of the house was nice as were the number of rooms and bathrooms. Due to the cold weather we did not get to use the outside fire pit or sit out on the porch but the outside amenities looked very nice.
While we had a good time on our visit there were a few things someone looking to stay at the property may want to take into account. These were not huge issues for us, but they were impactful to the overall quality of our visit. First, we brought our corgi Lili with us on the trip. The house rules are that dogs cannot be in carpeted area of the house and we followed that with no problem - additionally this was clear in the listing so we expected it. only the bedrooms are carpeted and we were able to put Lili's crate just outside the door on the first floor and leave the door open. She tolerated the minor distance from us overnight very well. The information binder also states that dogs are not allowed on the furniture. This was unexpected and much more difficult to do. Lili is used to sitting with us at home and it was a huge hassle to keep her on the floor. The no dogs on the furniture policy was not clear in the listing and would have been a deal breaker for us if we would have known ahead of the rental.
The second issue was the amount of comfortable seating in the house. The house sleeps 10, but there is just a couch and loveseat - seating a total of 5. we had to bring a chair in off the porch for our sixth person - making it an unpleasant game to see which of us got to sit in the uncomfortable chair when we were hanging out.
Third, we had a difficult time figuring out the heating system. There were instructions in the information binder but none of the thermostats seemed to work like the information suggested. This led to temperature swings in the house from 59 degrees the first morning we got up to almost 75 the last evening in the house.
Finally, while the kitchen was the best stocked we have yet run across in terms of cooking and baking items (which was really great!) there was not enough toilet paper or paper towels. We had to make an emergency run into town to get both at one point. Of note, we did not bother out host with this...
