Shinsegae translates to “new world”, and this expansive, 14-floor department store is appropriately named. Shinsegae Centum City is the largest department store in the world and is a hot spot for big brands, fine dining and great opportunities for entertainment and relaxation.
The shopping area encompasses nine floors of the complex and features everything from luxury boutiques to grocery stores. Visit the first floor to browse high-fashion lines by Gucci, Prada and Chanel. The Kyobo Book Store, Korea’s largest bookstore chain, is located on the fifth floor, and gourmet grocery stores can be found downstairs in the basement.
Shinsegae Centum City has many sporting facilities. Lace up your skates at the ice rink, large enough to accommodate 500 skaters, or work on your golf swing at the vast driving range. Get some fresh air at the grassy rooftop park area, where you can see clear views of the Nakdong River.
Reserve your spot at the Shinsegae Centum City Spaland for an authentic Korean relaxation treatment. Korea is known for its jimjilbang, or traditional spa, which usually comprises of saunas, hot tubs, entertainment services, sleeping areas and a restaurant. Spaland at Shinsegae features 22 spas and 13 themed saunas, including an Ancient Rome-themed sauna.
Enjoy a snack or a meal at the Shinsegae restaurants and cafés, mostly featuring Korean and Japanese cuisines. Some of these specialities are regarded as among the best in Busan. Visit the food court in the department store’s basement to try many international flavours or enjoy sit-down restaurant service at the ninth-floor restaurants.
Shinsegae Centum City is open daily, year-round. The basement food court and grocery stores have later opening hours than other stores. Individual admission costs apply to the spa, driving range and ice rink.
Parking can be found in the basement car park or the large parking area in front of the department store. A direct subway line runs between Busan Station and the mall and many bus lines reach the area.
