The place itself is very well located, but the bunkers are not very solid and are made from light wood (I was on the top one and all night waking up because every time the guest underneath me moved, the whole bed moved too). The communal shower is also very tight. Overall, budget friendly for backpackers who don't mind a certain degree of discomfort "
"This hotel was recommended by a friend who lives in Rio and I understand why. The location is near the Ipanema beach, safer than Copacabana, the rooms and facilities are nice and clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We reserved the 6 hour city/Cristo tour with them which was a good choice. We also enjoyed the spa for massages which were also very nice. "

"O quarto é bem apertadinho, mas bem arrumado, limpo e mobiliado. Acredito que seria mais confortável se tivesse mais travesseiros e mais um cobertor. "Amazing stay! Stayed at the Janeiro hotel for 3 nights with a group of 4 friends and everything from the rooms to the service was impeccable. Rooms are large, very well designed, and very comfortable, with added personalized touches that made our stay all the more special. Bathrooms are also quite large and the shower is amazing. We enjoyed our welcome drinks from the rooftop which has a really nice view (and the drink options also top notch) and a nice ambiance at night. Did not get a chance to try the restaurant except for ordering from the beach, which I will say took a very long time to arrive. Other than that the stay was absolutely perfect. Will definitely stay again! "
"I am basing this review on the price paid. We came during the week in wintertime.
Breakfast alone justified the stay.
24 hour corner store just a few steps away. Full grocery store a few more steps away. & then of course the beach a few more steps away.
Note:water in fridge is not complementary. I thought they were because there were just four small bottles of a no nane brand. "

The host does not include the exact location of the property in the listing and did not provide details about how to get to the property until after booking was complete.
What the host hid from the booking: The property is up on a hill inside the park, which is NOT accessible by uber. You can only get to the property from a very rough and unsafe dirt road. The only option is to rent a car or hire a driver for extra cost.
The owner did not disclose this very important detail before booking and when we realized it was too much of an inconvenience for us and would impact the quality of our trip, we were already past the refund period and we lost 50% of our booking fee (coincidence I’m sure…).
This withholding of information until after booking is at best an unethical business practice and worst potentially a scam. Be careful with booking and ensure this meets your needs before booking so you don’t lose money like we did.
