Impersonal. When we reached the place, doors had combination and no one was available to help. Lucky, lady at the shop helped us to call the owner and got room number, combination number to enter. Waited outside in cold weather. Understand that we were international traveler and didn't have local phone.Room was at the second floor. Just two thin towels, no napkins, no wash clothes. Only two cheap plastic hangers. Just one of the worst experience that we had in Iceland. I would not stay there again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Standard clean room in a non-touristy town
We stayed here since it is only a short drive to two of the hot pot's that we wanted to try. The room was standard and small, but worked for our purposes. The shared bathroom was large as was the shared kitchen. The town had a few small shops (they all close by 6pm) and a few restaurants and bars. It has a working town feel (it's not touristy).

Too much work for no pay off
Couldn’t stay here bc nobody answered the phone number provided. They have no front desk so you’re asked to call ahead. And we never got to speak to anyone. So we were forced to stay elsewhere that night. Super frustrating
Very clean rooms, but be aware that it’s self check in and there is no one there, situated above a storefront. Five bedrooms share one bathroom and we lucked out and were the only ones there but if all five rooms had been full, the wait for the bathroom would have been a real issue. Very simple accommodation but spotless. Great bakery across the street.
I stayed at the Aðalgata 14 location. Rooms are upstairs on the second floor. The location is great - right in the middle of town. I don't like talking to anyone after driving all day, so I really appreciated the self check-in lock box. My room was clean and comfortable, but too hot. When I arrived the door was closed with the heat cranked up all the way. It was definitely not necessary on a mild June day, but it's good to know the heat works so well when it gets cold. I thought there were too many guest rooms to be sharing just one bathroom.

Overall it was ok for the price. The shared bathroom was not the cleanest. There was only one other guest so it was not a big problem but people coming and going would definitely wake up lighter sleepers. The type of door used is very noisy.
Seamless check in and check out, clean room and other areas, i.e. kitchen, bathroom. The blinds don't block all the light, so if you're sensitive to light, suggest bringing an eye mask, that's what did.
Would consider staying there again.
The room was lovely, very comfortable. One bathroom (with both toilet and bath in one room) shared between 5 guest rooms is stretching it a little though. So plan you night and morning routine strategically.
We were the only ones at the guesthouse when we stayed, and it was located on a quiet street in a small town. The communication from the owners was quick and efficient, check-in was easy. It's within a block of two restaurants and a delicious bakery yum! Beds were cosy and the showers were hot. Thanks!
