Ever since I was a little boy, I have always wanted to make Cyprus my home. Our parents used to send us to Cyprus from England during the whole school summer break. We'd spend it with family in Skarinou, the little village has many wonderful memories for us all. Even after being here for weeks during our school summer break, we just couldn't get enough. It touches the heart and stirs the soul. Welcome to our slice of heaven on earth.
Imagine waking up and basking in the glorious Cypriot sunshine whilst eating fresh fruits from your garden mere footsteps away.
The view of a beautiful pool all your own during your stay.
The village of Skarinou is built at an average altitude of 190 meters above sea level and is the "heart" of Cyprus. It is on the road axis of the island that connects Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaka. Skarinou, built on the hillsides, with a dominant building, the church of Panagia Odigitria is one of the most picturesque villages in Cyprus. Its homes are built with local stone and preserve to a large extent their traditional folk architecture.
As a local expert, I would also love to share with you my personal recommendations for the best things to do and visit in the area.
During your stay, I will always be available to answer any questions you may have about the villa. Therefore, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via phone or message.
Skarinou is very centrally located, and you are a short distance from many attractions:
Lefkara ** Once a favorite vacation spot of Venetian merchants and the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci, the architecture is reminiscent of an old world.
The name Lefkara means “white rocks,” a nod to the color of the surrounding rocks on the mountainside. Although the exact founding of the city is unknown, the first instance of the village appeared in a written record in 1134 when Saint Neophytos the Recluse identified the village as his birth town. It is said that Leonardo da Vinci visited Lefkara in the late 16th century as a guest of the Queen of Cyprus, Catherine Cornar, and bought a big tablecloth embroidered on all sides, which was later donated to the Milan Cathedral
Agios Lazaros Church ** Situated in the town center of the southern city of Larnaca, the Church of Saint Lazarus is a 9th-century monument to the man that Christians believe Jesus raised from the dead. According to tradition, Lazarus fled to Cyprus to escape persecution and served as the city’s first bishop for thirty years. Built over Lazarus’ second tomb, the Byzantine church was refurbished in the Baroque style during the 1800s with Greek Orthodox ornamentation. Although the tomb now stands empty, renovations made after a fire occurred in 1970 found relics of the saint in a marble sarcophagus located under the altar.
Choirokotia ** The Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia, occupied from the 7th to the 4th millennium B.C., is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the eastern Mediterranean. A UNESCO world heritage site.
Ayia Napa ** World renowned beautiful beaches with water so clear and turquoise.
