Carve your way down a choice of carefully crafted slopes or explore majestic forests at Ski Martock. Push your limits at the terrain park or watch the action unfold from the bar.
With seven separate trails this minute resort offers plenty to excite and challenge all levels of skier and snowboarder. Experienced riders can take the chairlift to the summit at 600 feet (183 meters) and enjoy a magnificent view back down the valley before they begin their descent. Shane’s Solution offers plenty of twists and turns while the Expressway is all about speed and control. The Glades run, on the right hand side of the mountain, passes a long halfpipe, perfect for big airs. Further down the terrain park features jumps and rails for freestyle riders.
If you would rather something a little less strenuous the Buttermilk course is shorter and less steep. First timers meanwhile can easily get from the ski school to gentle Bunny Hill that has its magic carpet ride. There is plenty of space to practice and with the bar just a few feet away it is easy to stop for a break at any time.
For a real workout set off along one of the seven Nordic tracks that cover a total distance of 3 miles (5 kilometers).Weave through conifer and hardwood forest and keep your eyes peeled to spot moose and deer among the trees.
Ski Martock is located in central Nova Scotia, an hour’s drive west of Halifax. There is an excellent ski center with shop, rental and lessons offered for all ages. The bar has a range of drinks as well as snacks and simple meals. The town of Windsor, a 10-minute drive north, has a selection of hotels and inns.
