Visit this beautiful park to see wonderful views from the highest natural point in central Stockholm.

Skinnarvik Park is a lovely park and home to Skinnarviksberget, a small mountain that offers stunning vistas over Stockholm. Bring a picnic and admire the view while enjoying some food. Save time to stroll around the park afterwards. Bring your camera to capture striking panoramic views of the city.

The park takes its name from the tanneries that were once located here. This setting was far enough from the city center, but also provided the water access needed for the tanning process. It has been a city park since the 1930s. On the outskirts of the park, look for the old houses where the tanners used to live. Many of these houses have been preserved.

Skinnarvik Park is part of the natural landscape of Stockholm. Climb to the top of its small mountain, Skinnarviksberget, and see the view over Stockholm from your vantage point 174 feet (53 meters) above sea level. See the Riddarfjärden bay in front, with the pastel buildings of Stockholm stretching out behind. Try to spot some of the city’s distinctive landmarks, such as Stockholm City Hall and Högalidskyrkan church.

In the summer, enjoy a light meal in the park’s lovely open-air café. Bring the kids to play at the small playground, featuring a slide and sandpit, located near the park’s entrance. Look for Progression, a modern sculpture by Arne Jones. This graceful stainless steel sculpture seems to magically float, glinting in the sun.

Retreat from the city for a tranquil walk on a sunny day or bring your lunch and a book and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The park’s gorgeous scenery changes with each season. In winter, see the park blanketed with fluffy white snow. In autumn, admire the bright colors of the changing leaves.

Skinnarvik Park is in the trendy Södermalm district. Get here by metro from within Stockholm. Follow the signs with the Swedish names, “Skinnarviksberget” (Skinnarvik Mountain) or “Skinnarviksparken.”

Don’t miss the impressive views of Stockholm from this park’s scenic mountain.
