This little cabin was in an ideal getaway spot close to hiking trails and perfectly situated in the mountains. Be aware that it is a mountain cabin. Everything works, and everything is clean, but it is a rustic. Specifically, there are tricks to getting a hot shower, but don't give up the water heater does work.
They just did a whole bunch of improvements, and it made the cabin very comfortable. This is a mountain gem, and I couldn't recommend it more.
Perfect quick walk to Rainbow Lodge for wedding event
Easy check-in, quaint cabin with sweet personal touches, upstairs had comfortable and cozy rooms. Great place to get away and unplug if desired, (great reception with Verizon) and close to lots of hiking. Prompt and easy communication with Carah the host. We truly enjoyed our stay..

Positives: The cabin was super cute. The trail to Loch Leven lakes was a 5min walk away. Up the road (about a 10min walk) is a swimming hole. There was access to the river behind the house but not really a place to layout, I am also not sure if it was part of someone's property.
Not so positives: I do wish there was screen doors on both the front and back doors to allow for a better breeze to come in. We also had issues with the hot water staying on. Day 2 we figured out you needed to run the sink first then the shower would stay hot. Water also leaked from the shower so we used an extra amount of towels to keep the floor dry, easy fix if silicone caulking is added.
Other than that we loved the place and would definitely stay there again.
Great cabin but I don't think I'd bring my dogs again. The swimming holes are a drive, not near the cabin. I was under the impression it is close to the river and swimming holes but it isn't . There's a busy highway within 100 feet of the property. I had to really keep an eye on the dogs. It would be great without dogs. Nice place but the heat in July was over 100 degrees and the upstairs did not cool down enough to sleep. I'd stay here again but with different expectations.
I book a cabin in the woods every year for my wife's birthday and she had one request for this year's cabin: a fire place. This cabin did not disappoint at all. The host even set up the fireplace for us and had plenty of wood. The cabin is in a perfect location that's walkable to an incredible hiking trail and only a short drive into Donner lake and Truckee. The only marks against it were the highway noise when you're outside and you have neighbors though no one was home for our visit. We're not familiar with the area being east coasters that got cabins in the remote Appalachians previously so I chalk those items up to our ignorance. Outside of that, the cabin was clean and stocked with linens, towels, and all the necessary supplies for a weekend stay.
