Experience the Austrian ski village you’ve always imagined at Soell, with beautiful blooming gardens in summer and shimmering slopes in winter. One of the most beloved spots in SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental, Soell draws more people every winter, as regulars return year after year and new visitors find this gem.
Soell’s elevation is about 2,300 feet (700 meters). The village is nestled between the stunning peaks of Wilder Kaiser and Hohe Salve. In these lush hills, find dairy farms, beehives and dozens of distilleries that make traditional schnapps, perfect for warming your belly on a wintry day.
Skiers will head for the great intermediate runs of Höchsoll. To reach the gondola base station and beginner area, take the ski bus or walk if you’re feeling energetic. Here you’ll also find two floodlit toboggan tracks. On top of the Hohe Salve mountain, enjoy stunning views of the surrounding peaks and skifields. Vist the church and rotating restaurant here as well. Part of the appeal of the area around Soell is the many intermediate and advanced runs for adventurous skiers crisscrossing these slopes.
Enjoy a day out at the Hexenwasser theme park, Witches’ Water, which features an extensive barefoot walking path. In the summer, swim in the Ahornsee, a modern artificial lake, where the star attraction is the giant inflatable cushion called the “blob” that will send you high up into the air if you’re brave enough to jump onto it.
The village center of Soell has a stately white church, the Pfarrkirche St. Peter und Paul, with ornately decorated interiors. Find many places to eat and drink in the chalets of the little town, including in-house restaurants of the hotels. Along the main streets immerse yourself in the classic architecture of Tirol.
“Soell refreshes,” as the locals say. Good roads lead into Soell from Salzburg and other large cities.
