With stunning views across the beach and beyond to the beautiful island of Eriskay, this detached, single-storey cottage offers a perfect base for exploring South Uist, Benbecula, Barra and North Uist. The archipelago off the islands are all linked by causeways or small bridges, so travelling between them all is very easy. With miles of white sandy beaches, turquoise seas and a blanket of rare flowers turning the famous machair into a shimmering mass of colour, the Uists are undoubtedly beautiful. Surrounded by an abundance of wildlife, seals and otters are often spotted, whilst basking sharks, dolphins and whales visit during the summer months. Hen harriers, sea eagles, golden eagles and the elusive corncrake make the islands a birdwatchers’ paradise! Steeped in history, the Uists offer many historic and archaeological sites, including the earliest crannog site in Scotland located at Eilean Dòmhnuill, possibly dating back to 3200 BC. Other sites include the Bonnie Prince Charlie Trail, Trinity Temple at Carnish, Kildonan Museum and the chambered cairn at Barpa Langass.
There are plenty of outdoor pursuits including cycling, kayaking, walking, fishing, golf and horse riding. At Lochmaddy the Uist Outdoor Centre offers a wide range of activities including sea kayaking, diving and whale watching, whilst for those with good sea legs, a short boat trip to St Kilda and the Monach Isles is worthwhile. With magnificent sunrises and sunsets, South Uist will allow you to relax and rejuvenate your batteries, leaving the stresses of everyday life far behind! Beach ¼ mile. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

This a good wee cottage on South Uist, completely free of hustle and bustle and street lights.
This a good wee cottage on South Uist, completely free of hustle and bustle and street lights. All amenities apart from shops were closed due to you know what! The view from the lounge is as good as you'll get, looking over to Barra. South UIst has big skies and big seas and a great viewpoint is a parking space just before you go down to the ferry for Barra on Eriskay. We saw Golden Eagles at that spot. If you like beaches you will be spoiled for choice ( buy or borrow an OS map to find them) or just turn west off the main road. After a day out it was great to return to West Kilbride to relax and eat and drink! The beds are comfy and showers are good with plenty hot water. The cottage is south facing so the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular! Our host Penny was lovely ( by phone ) and the WiFi was excellent Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Excellent cottage in West Kilbride managed by Pennie who was very helpful.
Excellent cottage in West Kilbride managed by Pennie who was very helpful. The cottage itself is fantastic, very modern and clean and has everything you could possibly need for a great stay. Very comfrotable beds with well equipped kitchen and all appliances etc. Good wifi connectivity in the house. Beautiful garden and view to the sea - chickens in the garden were a particular highlight! As we visited in the summer of 2020 there were a number of establishments closed or with booking restrictions due to Covid-19, so it's worth checking beforehand if you are looking for pubs/restaurants etc as part of your stay. Some local businesses/attractions were shut such as the nearby Kildonan museum. Whilst the geographical location and setting/scenery is fantastic be aware that there are supermarkets/shops but they are a bit of a drive so you do need to plan ahead or come prepared. We didn't find this to be an issue, but worth knowing. Also important to ensure you have ferry bookings as they can be busy in the summer, especially on a Saturday. We had a fantastic time and would love to return. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

The cottage is of a very high standard, well appointed and comfortable.
The cottage is of a very high standard, well appointed and comfortable. It is located in a very scenic location with some excellent beaches only a short drive away. Provision wise there is a well stocked Co-Op around 20 minutes drive away along with a small petrol station. There are few other amenities so be prepared to be self sufficient. The weather for our stay was poor but the cottage comfortable and warm. Overall I would definitely recommend staying at the cottage. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Stunning cottage helpful and attentive host.
Stunning cottage helpful and attentive host. Scenery beautiful . Almost everything in the cottage was of high quality. No DVD player or music . However smart TV worked with mobile dongle very well. The only comment is that the cooking utensils were cheap not nice to use which considering the high quality of fixtures and fittings was surprising. We had a most enjoyable week .
