Quirky, listed building with log burners close to the historical town of Battle

Little Turret is part of the old farm buildings of the Beauport Home Farm built in 1838 and in its time housed the farm workers. Situated above the now converted old forge and cowshed and amongst a few more modern homes, Little Turret is full of character. It has recently been renovated to provide all the modern appliances whilst keeping original features to reflect the age of the property. Tastefully decorated with a mixture of Farrow and Ball colours and William Morris wallpaper you won't be disappointed. Access is up the stone spiral staircase in the turret with its interesting ceiling, which leads to the lounge with a log burner, TV, Netflix, Disney+, DVD player, choice of DVDs and 2 sofas. The property has an ample dining room with vintage furnishings and a further woodburner ideal for cozy Autumn and Winter meals. Off the dining room is a small but quirky cloakroom. The fully equipped galley kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, oven, hob, microwave and fridge. The double bedroom is off the lounge with quality, luxury bedding. Please ask if you require an extra bed for a young person . We can provide a foldaway bed and bedding.

Upstairs you will find the bedroom with exposed brick work, a king size Rococo bed with quality bedding, stripped floorboards and far reaching views from the unusual round window over Hastings towards the sea. The spacious bathroom has a roll top bath with a hand shower attachment. Cotton towels and individual wrapped soaps provided for that touch of luxury.

Little Turret has its own driveway for at least 2 cars and a pretty decking area with table and seating for 4 to enable you to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Little Turret is ideally located in the heart of the famous 1066 Country a short drive from Hastings seafront, the historic town of Battle with its Abbey, the beautiful town of Rye. It's just a 10 minute drive into St. Leonards where you are spoilt for choice for antique shops, cafes and galleries. St. Leonards even has its own independent cinema with restaurant and art gallery. There is a luxury 30 seater cinema at the modern and very popular Sussex Exchange Restaurant. Hastings Old Town is a short drive away with many events held during the year. Hastings is known for its Pirate Day and is a must if you are in the area. It also hosts an annual Seafood and Wine Festival in September and Hastings Day Bonfire and Firework Display in October. In November nearby Battle hosts a Bonfire Night Procession and amazing firework display from Battle Abbey.

Hastings has a stunning contemporary designed pier after the original was destroyed by fire several years ago. Now open for the public to enjoy views of the town from out to sea.

Hastings Old Town also has a mixture of antique shops and cafes alongside amusements, crazy golf and everything you'd expect from a seaside holiday. The picturesque narrow streets and fishing huts set between the 2 cliffs are worth a visit.

A little further out you can find plenty of walks, cycle routes and areas of outstanding natural beauty. For those interested in history you can visit Battle Abbey famously founded by William the Conqueror, Bodiam Castle complete with moat and turrets and Herstmonceux Castle to name but a few historical attractions.

With so many attractions and events you will barely have time to enjoy the home comforts of the cottage.

Coastal Sanctuary
Jane and Jon were amazing hosts! I ended up booking Little Turret after my prior VRBO cancelled just before my trip, Jane and Jon allowed me to stay over the Holiday when they normally would have closed. I cannot express how grateful I am to them and their family for providing me a place to stay. I arrived later than anticipated but was treated with some welcome gifts that were perfect! From the unique entry-way (almost castle like) to the first glimpse inside Little Turret, the property gives you all the English charm and quirk your heart desires. Little Turret was a sanctuary for me over a 23 day trip and I found myself not wanting to leave the multiple fireplaces or bathtub! The beds are comfortable, amenities are well done, and in general it is just the perfect spot to rest, rejuvenate, and reflect. I spent a lot of time cooking, building fires, and reading. When I finally left the property, it was close car ride to Historic Battle, Hastings, the coast, Rye, Eastbourne and a little further to Brighton. Close access to train stations and other amenities you might need during your stay. Jane was fantastic at communicating and was readily available whenever I had questions or needed something. If your looking for an amazing place to stay, experience historic England with some real English charm I cannot express more that Little Turret is the place to go! I will return in the future. Thank you again Jane & Jon for making my English Holiday perfect!

Our week at the Little Turret
We absolutely loved our stay - the Little Turret was everything we hoped for. It is full of surprises with all the charm of a bygone era and plenty of personal touches to make it special. Would have no hesitation in staying again. Thanks Jane,

Quirky but comfortable
Well-equipped & very comfortable (except for the sofas, which were not). Beautifully decorated, but downstairs was dark, even on bright days. Palatial bathroom, but struggled bathing without a stand-in shower. Sea view not visible except from garden. Location brilliant, 5 mins from seafront, & very peaceful. Overall, a lovely place, & owner Jane was lovely too.

Great vacation in UK
The location was a little further out of Hastings than I thought but was easy with a car to get around. The place itself is wonderful and so are the hosts. The houses personal touches are great. We were so tired after a 11 hour flight and two hour drive that having wine , eggs bread and milk was wonderful so we didn't have to run right out again. Would stay here again definitely!!! There are quite a few steps if this is hard for you. It wasn't for us. Thank you for sharing your place with us.

Character property
Spent a lovely weekend with my family at this beautiful property. So full of character and beautifully decorated if you like old then this is the place for you. It is well equipped and spotlessly clean with the added bonus of a welcome basket from the owner. (Milk bread butter etc). Good location for Hastings only a five minute drive away. The only disappointment for us was that it is surrounded by modern houses.

Life as in times gone by
Attractively decorated. Needed airing for 24 hours as a heavy and unpleasant smell left us with sinus, catarrh and headaches. The hospitality basket was inviting and attractive. The winding turret stairs left this 77 year old with the knowledge that bungalows and flats, though lacking the atmosphere of quirky is more sensible. Thank you for a nice venue to relax in.

Perfect cosy cottage retreat - with turret!
Lots of lovely interior design features, modern kitchen, plenty of space. The wood burner made it especially cosy in the evenings. We loved the turret and the spiral staircase. Efficient heating. Big bath for long soaks!

Superb! Beautiful house and lovely host. Home from home.
Superb! We loved our short break near Hastings at Little Turret. Jane was very welcoming and provided a welcome pack of goodies and greeted us when we arrived. A historic gem of a property located in a more modern but quiet residential street as you walk up the spiral steps of Little Turret you step back in time into a beautifully furnished and very tastefully styled renovated house with all the facilities you could ask for including an excellent kitchen, a beautiful dining room in the style of William Morris & a cosy living room with TV/DVD and a cosy log burner in the winter months.2 nice bedrooms, one downstairs but with a separate loo and one upstairs next to the bathroom which features a slipper bath! Fabulous place = home from home!

Fantastic accommodation
A really unique property, beautifully designed and decorated. From the generous welcome hamper to the cosy bed everything is thoughtfully and lovingly provided. The rooms are generously proportioned and skillfully decorated with William Morris designs and tasteful paint colour choices. We cannot thank the owners enough for their attention to detail and comfort. Highly and hugely recommended if you are looking for a place to stay in 1066 country.

Lovely relaxing weekend
We had a lovely relaxing weekend at this great quirky little cottage. Jane was great at communicating with us and the property is really well equipped for our group of 4 adults. Its in a good location - just a few minutes drive to Hastings. We enjoyed the little terrace outside and the welcome hamper was much appreciated. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

Little Turret is a lovely, secret getaway place with atmosphere and warmth
We were two friends of old, with their 13 year old daughters and the Turret was a perfect place to catch up, play games, eat together in its warm and cosy surroundings. Luxurious beds and a fully furnished little kitchen meant that we feasted and pleased ourselves with films and fun. A quick pop down to the pier and the shops was lovely but we all wanted to dash back to our temporary home to chill out together and be happy.

Gezellig knus huisje in Hastings

Comfortable, characterful cottage, good base for exploring the Kent/Sussex coastline
A nice place to stay, cosy and comfortable with good-quality furniture and attractive decor. Highlights include the turret entrance and freestanding bath. It's pretty well equipped although the kitchen knives were a bit blunt and there was no bread knife. The only real drawbacks are the traffic noise from the two major roads nearby and the lack of a nice outdoor seating area. There's a small bit of decking with a table but this is quite near the noisy road at the back and the space at the side of the outer wall would be a better place for a seat. Due to its construction and surrounding buildings, some of the rooms are a bit dark. We found some nice places to visit including Winchelsea, Bexhill and Pevensey, and although it feels a bit tired and jaded, St Leonards is well worth exploring with some interesting galleries and junk shops. Jane, the owner of Turret Cottage, is very friendly and helpful.

Unique & beautifully restored property with wonderfully accommodating and owners not far away
We rented this delightful property as a base for the final preparations for our daughter's wedding up the road in Battle just before Christmas. Jane and Jon were both excited to have us there and made everything so easy for us. Even the welcome of "this is your home" set the scene. The property lent itself very well to my wife and I having the upstairs and our bride-to-be daughter in the double bedroom downstairs with plenty of living space to do all that was needed. For the final preparations on the day itself the Little Turret was an incredible place for photos - including the spiral staircase down to the front door! We were so blessed to have sunshine all day on the big day. Thank you Jane and Jon for being so accommodation - and well done!

Wunderschönes Häuschen
Sehr liebevoll eingerichtetes Haus.
