The Ellingham Cottages is nestled within the beautiful parish of St Martins in the south-east of the island. Whilst only 1.5 miles from the picturesque harbour town of St Peter Port, it is also perfectly located for scenic hikes along the stunning south-coast cliffs; leisurely walks and bike rides along tranquil green lanes; and sunbathing at the nearby quiet sandy bays.
The Ellingham Cottages has 12 two and three-bedroom cottages. Three of the cottages are rated as 'superior' cottages as they offer that little bit more than the (still very lovely) 'classic' cottages. Guests can enjoy enhanced amenities such as wall-mounted televisions in one of the bedrooms, a private Netflix account, DAB radios and luxury toiletries. Whilst the classic cottages enjoy a shared terrace, these superior cottages each have a private terrace or courtyard with built-in BBQ.
Both superior cottages are on two-levels and sleep 4 people, with a king-bed in the master bedroom and two single beds in the second bedroom. The bathrooms have a bath with an overhead shower. On opening the patio doors of the Garden Terrace Cottage, there is a private walled terrace with a built-in BBQ and table and chairs. It has direct access to the large shared garden and gets the sun all afternoon and evening. The Courtyard Cottage has a private paved courtyard garden accessed from the bright and spacious living room. There is a built-in BBQ with a dining table and chairs, plus an outdoor sofa to lounge on. The third superior cottage is a ground-floor cottage and is listed separately.
The cottages are available for weekly bookings with a Saturday changeover.
Within just a few minutes walk is the parish 'high street', with some shops, a bakery, Co-Op, M&S Food Hall, garages, a pub, cashpoint and pharmacy. There is a regular bus service that runs past the cottage. The bus service is excellent - cheap, reliable and friendly drivers! This service travels to several places, including the main town of St Peter Port. There is also a circular bus route which you can pick up from The Ellingham which takes you all around the island.
Guernsey is a small island and thus relatively easy to get around. Whether you are wanting to lie back and relax on stretching sandy beaches, watch the bustle of the marina, experience culinary delights, or more active experiences, such as surfing, coasteering, wind-surfing, cycling, hiking, swimming or boogie-boarding - Guernsey offers something for everyone to enjoy. We would be happy to make recommendations.
St Peter Port is exceptionally charming, set along the sea-front and with a cobbled high street and VAT-free shopping. A wonderful day can be spent browsing the fashion, beauty and jewellery boutiques before stopping for lunch at a harbour-side restaurant, before maybe visiting the house that Victor Hugo lived in when in exile from France. It is lovely to have a simple sandwich lunch sitting on one of the many benches overlooking the harbour filled with yachts. From St Peter Port, visitors can take the short boat trip to the beautiful neighbouring islands of Herm and Sark.
