Fly into Jersey and land in the parish of St. Peter, a charming region with stunning beaches and lots of activities for families. The region may be best known for hosting the island’s only airport, but it also contains several enjoyable attractions, including adventure parks for children and a popular surfing spot.
Visit the Moulin de Quétivel on the edge of the parish to learn about the history of St. Peter and the island of Jersey. The moulin is a 18th-century windmill. Venture inside to browse displays on the area’s Neolithic history, as well as exhibits documenting its rural past exporting flour around the world.
Discover some of St. Peter’s green areas. The Forgotten Forest Arboretum is a peaceful place for walking, with tree species from all around the world. Nearby, find the Les Mielles Nature Reserve, a network of wetlands by the water’s edge. Enjoy a round of golf on the 18-hole course or take your family to the Les Mielles Fun Zone, which features mini golf and a trampoline park.
Spend a day by the sea at St. Ouen’s Bay Beach, which runs along the edge of the nature reserve. Park your car, then wander down to the sand for sunbathing or try surfing on the wilder waves. The surf here is powerful, so swimming is only recommended for strong swimmers experienced with these conditions. The popular beach is lined with restaurants, making it an atmospheric spot for watching the sun set over the English Channel.
Families will also enjoy the aMaizin! Adventure Park in inland St. Peter. Lose yourself in a corn maze that is open throughout summer and speed around the go-kart track. The park is located on a farm that offers tractor rides and features a small petting zoo.
Jersey Airport is located in the middle of St. Peter, making the parish instantly accessible to anyone flying to Jersey. Alternatively, drive here from the port in St. Helier in about 10 minutes. Come to St. Peter in any season of the year, but anticipate some attraction closures in the winter months.
