A beautiful, cozy 4-season "Lake view" cottage on Porter Lake, Strong Maine. We are not directly on the water but we have 50 feet of water front for your enjoyment and pleasure. Wake up each morning, coffee in hand, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake! After coffee....take our Golf cart down to the water and enjoy a morning swim or take a kayak trip around the Lake! We have a great dock to swim off or to hook up your boat. Two separate living quarters, each with their own bath. Ideal for two couples who want privacy and separate spaces. On the Main level we have a queen size bed, and one single bed. The lower level has a queen size bed. There is a fully appointed kitchen (right down to the Margarita Machine!) for those who love to cook! There is a Gas fireplace on top floor. Free wi-fi and two TV's with Roku devices and DVD machine. We do not have cable but the Roku provides local channels, news and movies. Outdoor grill & fire pit. WE PROVIDE WOOD FOR YOUR EVENING BON-FIRE! Included in your rental fee are two bikes, 3 Kayaks (two single Kayaks and one two-person) and a golf cart. You may ask "What in the world is there to do around "Cavanaugh's Lake View Cottage"? Doesn't it get a little boring when you are in the middle of nowhere?" This is a wonderful place to "get away from it all!!! A great place to relax, swim, go ATV'ing, enjoy the Foliage, hiking, fishing, canoeing, Kayaking, Biking, Cross country skiing, Ice fishing, Skating, golf, Snowmobiling, zip lining and enjoying mountain views! If you are a Skier we are an "easy" 30 miles from Sugar Loaf USA Ski Resort, just 22 miles to Saddleback Ski Resort and only 11 miles to Farmington. Stay with us and save on the high fees of Mountain lodging! THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO ENJOY WINTER HOBBIES AND SPORTS! From the property you will also have access for easy snowmobiling and ATV trails to explore the beautiful Western Maine terrain! At night, enjoy sitting around the bon fire, having a drink, roasting a few marshmallows, gazing at the stars... it is more than enough to to keep you coming back year after year! Upon arrival, we will provide you a binder full of ideas of things to do, local facilities and so much more! We do not have air conditioning, however, we do have ceiling fans over all beds and floor fans on both levels! Please Note: Unfortunately, we are not set up to accept pets or small children at this time. CHECK IN TIME IS AFTER 3 PM. Our recommendations for eating out....
1. Longfellows in Kingfield (247 Main Street)..great steak tips! Nice atmosphere and food is good. If you would like to go for a drink before dinner...check out the bar at the Inn on Winters Hill in Kingfield ...nice bar!
2. For breakfast....The Woodsmen in Kingfield (372 Main Street). Great breakfast. On Fridays at lunch they have lobster rolls and a great Strawberry shortcake through Labor Day. Our favorite breakfast place!
3. For Pub food...recommend The Dug Out....pizza is very good. (118 Broadway, Farmington)
4. In Wilton Maine...Salt and Pepper....great food.. different menu. (843-US-2 Wilton Maine)
5. If you are planning on visiting Rangeley.... stop in Sarges Sports Pub, 2454 Main Street Rangeley...great seafood chowder!
6. Parkside & Main...nice place...outdoor seating overlooking at Rangeley Lake. (2520 Main Street Rangeley)
7. Loon Lodge in Rangeley....beautiful atmosphere...classy bar...a little pricey!
8. At Sugarloaf....have lunch at the Bag...great pub food... and a.have a drink at the Country Club....For a fun day...try ziplining at Sugarloaf! fun fun fun!
8. If you are looking to pick up some sub's for a picnic...you can't beat Basils subs in Farmington. Chock full of meat....our favorite!
