Peregian Beach is the perfect place to indulge in long beach walks, surf excellent breaking waves or relax on pristine sands. Breathe in fresh salty air, bask in abundant sunshine and gaze out at the ocean. It’s not uncommon to see whales breaching offshore from May through November.
Walk along the coastal track that connects different beachfront areas. Stroll through the relaxed village of Peregian and explore shady Peregian town square. Eclectic boutiques and stylish cafés offering modern Australian cuisine surround the square. You’ll find one-of-a-kind clothing, jewelry and home goods.
Cross the road to the Beachfront Park, which has an excellent children’s playground and skate park. Have a drink or a meal at the popular local Surf Life Saving Club. On the first and third Sunday of the month, spend your morning wandering through the Peregian Beachfront Markets, located in the grassy beachfront park. As the sun starts to set, lay a mat on the grass and share a picnic while listening to live music. The Peregian Originals free sessions feature a constantly changing lineup of local, interstate and international musicians on the second Sunday of the month.
Make your way to the western side of Peregian Beach to visit the beautiful and serene Lake Weyba. This shallow saltwater lake is the perfect place to take out a canoe and explore. Alternatively, relax on the shore and listen to morning birdsong or evening frog chorus mingled with the echo of ocean waves.
If you want some exercise, take the inland path along Lake Weyba. See colorful wildflowers and dune plants as you follow the boardwalk through a paperbark swamp and down a sandy track to heathland and she-oak forests. Hike up Emu Mountain (Mount Peregian) for spectacular views and beautiful wildflowers.
Peregian Beach is the gateway entrance to the Noosa National Park region of the Sunshine Coast. Located 8 miles (13 kilometers) south of Noosa Heads, Peregian Beach is an easy 3-mile (5-kilometer) walk or bike ride north of Coolum Beach.
