The Getaway Lodge close to Swanton & St. Albans

The Getaway is your escape to northern Vermont. Short distance to ice cream shops, fishing, hiking/biking trails, golf country club, St. Albans City, and Lake Champlain boat ramps. The home's layout is divided so it's great for multiple families, kids, and your dogs with a gigantic backyard and surrounding nature border. We aim to offer our guests a five star experience so having a well kept beautiful comfortable home is important to us so you have the most memorable time.

Location:
The Getaway is right off Vermont's scenic Route 7 in between Swanton and St. Albans. Minutes to St. Albans bars, restaurants, downtown movie theater, and Walmart. 40 minutes to downtown Burlington and airport. 1.5 hours to Montreal. 1 hour to multiple Vermont ski resorts.

No matter the weather:
Warm heat during freezing winters and cold AC during the summer. Snow plowing so you don't get stuck if you plan to go ice fishing.

Home:
Multiple bedrooms are split on opposite sides of home for privacy between adults and children. 8 beds. Couch turns into queen if needed. We even have baby travel cribs. Dedicated work office for adults that need some quiet space or for a private meeting with a client for business that comes with planner board, printer, and scanner.

3 Large Roku TV's set in Guest Mode so you can login to your favorite streaming services. Kids room has some old school Disney VHS tapes with VCR/DVD.

Extra large couch, dining room table sits 8, and island bar to entertain guests sits 4. Outside sitting areas with fire pit and front patio to enjoy the sunsets. Cut firewood available in between trees in front of house. Pickup starter fire logs available only 5 minutes away in any grocery store in St. Albans/Swanton.

Home is also fully stocked with smoke detectors, two fire extinguishers and first aid kit
just in case you need it with a local home phone line for rescue, but hopefully you'll never need it! Home does have front security cameras. Front porch camera can be turned off during your stay with switch inside. Your safety is our priority so you can have a relaxing and most comfortable stay at The Getaway in Vermont.

Guest access:
Full access to entire house, garage, and around it. Parking available for your boat/RV up to 30ft long (you can park on right side of the garage)

Family Gatherings/Events/Private Parties:
Please REQUEST pricing for booking for more than 10 guests by messaging us FIRST. 10 guests is always the MAX for overnight, but I do allow small private parties under 25 for day events. There is an extra charge for small events. NO HOUSE PARTIES ALLOWED. If you plan to have a raging party you will find the police immediately at door steps, you will be removed without refund. Please be respectful to property and neighbors.

For Instant Booking/Pre-Check in Requirements:
Host requires guests to confirm identity showing ID through VRBO email before checking in; as is standard practice for hotels before receiving a key. Failure to do so will result in cancelled booking. It's too easy to create an account and book a private residence without any confirmation of identity. If you were renting out a half million dollar home for only a few days to a complete stranger that could walk away with damages and free expensive furniture you would also do the same basic preventative practice to prevent fraud and theft. Thanks for your understanding.

For Pet Owners:
Please pickup after your pet and clean any messes. If cleaner has to pickup outside after your pet there will be an additional $100 pet charge after you check out. If you plan to take your dog(s) for a walk around property please have them on a leash. Next door neighbor do have two small dogs they walk and do not want dogs on their property. There is no fencing but large backyard to run. If you bring pets. Please pick up after them. There are doggy bags in backyard.
You can leave in trashcan provided in garage.

For Smokers:
If you smoke or vape please only do outside the home or in the garage. There is a zero tolerance policy for inside house smoking or vaping. So if someone smokes please only do in the spaces provided (outside or garage).

A great week at The Getaway!
When we first arrived, the house looked small to me from the outside but WOW, the layout is amazing & fit 10 of us comfortably! Paul & Tara are great hosts. They answered my questions and quickly resolved an issue we had with the heat. The week flew by! We visited breweries, went hiking, thrift store shopping, visited Canada for a day, went to Vermont Sports Car, played board games & had a bonfire,. We had a great time with our kids and grandkids! The house was perfect for our group. We especially loved the comfy beds and spacious kitchen. with answering

The property was absolutely beautiful. From the moment you open the door you just felt like you were home. We needed a place large enough to host our family which now includes three generations that spend Christmas Eve and Christmas day together. It was absolutely perfect. If I could change anything. It would just be that we took the time to enjoy the beautiful fire pit and backyard.
