We vwey much enjoyed experiencing a Japanese ryokan and onsen. Meals were unique and the attention to every single detail was impressive. Lastly, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, especially Seigo.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Hoshokaku. We splurged for the room with the private onsen on deck and were so happy we did - it is well worth it to have your own private bath and the views of Takayama are amazing. Hoshokaku is a beautiful ryokan and service was impeccable. We enjoyed our meals in the dining area - which were delicious. The ryokan is up on a hill so it is a bit of a hike up back from old town but definitely manageable. We loved our time at Hoshokaku and would love to return.

This is a nice ryokan with a good staff, welcoming and helpful. The inn is on the simple side, which does not refer to the spare Japanese tradition but to its now being a bit dated. The dining is as one can expect in a ryokan, thus traditional Japanese. The area around is a lovely park above the inn and the old town, touristy but attractive, directly below. The price is what one expects in Japan, thus expensive relative to comparable lodging elsewhere. Takayama is worth visiting, and this inn is a good base.

古い建物ですがとても手入れが行き届いていて、スタッフの方も対応がとても良く、気持ちよく過ごせました。大浴場も内風呂と露天風呂がありゆっくり浸かれました。食事処は半個室で、料理は地のものが味わえて美味しかったです。観光地の古い街並みにも近いです。ただ一つ、部屋の中の芳香剤の香りが強く気になりましたが、それ以外はとても良かったです。

お食事はどれもすべて美味しく、温度も、コースのお料理を出していただくタイミングも完璧でした。お風呂も露天風呂が最高です！足湯が朝もやっているといいなぁと思いました。お部屋が山側だったこととベッドの脇の電気が切れていて不便だったのが残念でしたが、接客はとても素晴らしく、また伺いたいと思いました。

บริการดีมาก ตั้งแต่การต้อนรับตอนเช็คอิน จนเช็คเอาท์ ห้องผมรวม halfboard ต้องทำนัดอาหารเช้า และอาหารเย็น เป็น Japanese style ดีมาก อร่อย และสวยงาม ห้องพัก กว้างขวาง สบาย มีฟูตองมาจัดให้เลือกนอนได้ การเดินทางสะดวกมาก มีที่จอดรถขนาดรถตู้ได้ สามารถเดินลงมาในเมืองเก่าแค่ 5 นาที มีออนเซ็นให้ด้วย ชอบมากครับ

早餐的窗外，殘雪掛在山邊牆壁，疊疊似浮雲飄在半空，賞著雪景用餐，隨著侍者熱切的招呼聲音，心情越來越難捨道再見。二天前抵寶生閣天色已晚，門前庭院前推著今冬的餘雪，孤獨的松葉掛著不忍離去的落雪，一旦太陽出來，再多的矜持終會溶成水。寶生閣一家位於山腰的老飯店，踏入飯店大廳，不像到一家飯店，像似回家，回到以前住過日本糖廠宿舍的家，進屋子先在玄關換鞋子，大廳是舖著榻榻米的地板，一直到房間的路上都鋪著榻榻米。推開門，進了房間，也是榻榻米的地板，房間有隔板，隔板上用紙糊的小窗口，好幾片隔板隔出一處可以喝茶看書的空間，這空間有一排玻璃，推開窗戶，整個高山城景映入眼簾。房間的柱子都是木造，天花板也是用木板稱著，滿地的榻榻米，把我的記憶拉的好遠，拉回到兒時在榻榻米玩耍,睡硬梆梆榻榻米的時光，天真爛漫的童年。我安靜的坐在窗邊，凝望城景，昨夜一場雪，屋瓦積滿疊疊落雪，天際鳥鳴喚醒沉睡一晚的街景。覽書閱讀，忽地天上飄起細雪，心情隨著推積的雪開朗放下書本，拾筆，詩句如雪花片片的飄落。這麼老的飯店，什麼都舊了，入門迎賓侍者的聲音也舊了，笑容卻揚溢溫暖的歡迎聲. 我喜歡飯店那些老式的擺設裝飾，只能用年久褪色的記憶來回味飯店主人的想法，ㄧ種老掉牙的堅持，有著不失味的溫度和人情味。一位手腳僵硬不靈活的飯店清潔員工，對著客人的禮貌問候是這般的平常像家人一般，我有回到家的感覺。
