Pleasant hotel close to all major attractions

The hotel is very close to the railway station and close to the city center. It lies in a neighbourhood that felt safe to walk in at night. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I arrived late at the hotel but it was easy to get in and I could check in the following morning. I had a very nice and spaceous room. This was in part due to the fact that I had a 3-person room all by my self because the other rooms were full; but I really liked the extra kitchen space and the balcony.

Lage ist nicht in der Innenstadt, aber sehr ruhig und sehr geschickt für Geschäftsreisende (3 min zu Fuß zum Bahnhof). Check-In sehr spät abends hat einwandfrei funktioniert. Sehr nette und hilfreiche Betreiber.

Niet gekregen wat we geboekt hadden

Aangezien wij als gezin met twee kinderen en twee volwassenen wilden overnachten, hadden we twee tweepersoons kamers met elk twee eenpersoons bedden geboekt, liefst naast of tegenover elkaar. We kregen twee als eenpersoonskamer ingerichte kamers op twee verdiepingen. Verder was er op de dag van aankomst niemand (!) van het personeel aanwezig; we moesten het met een vluchtig telefoontje van de Manager ("druk, druk, druk...") doen. Ter compensatie mochten we wel met z'n viertjes ontbijten in een speciale kamer. En het bed sliep prima.

Super hotel in de buurt van het centrum

Dit hotel is echt een goed hotel op een kwartier lopen van het centrum. Schone kamers, ruime kamer gehad voor 4 personen. Ontbijt op de kamer, enige nadeel is dat er geen vlees bij het ontbijt zit, maar dit zou je bi de reservering kunnen aangeven vertelde de manager. Dus dat weten we voor de volgende keer. Niks dan lof over dit hotel en ons verblijft. Parkeren is ook erg goed en makkelijk dichtbij voor12 euro per nacht.

Leuk authentiek hotel.

Prima verblijf gehad. We zaten in de suite, prachtige 4 persoonskamer waar je zeker meerdere dagen kunt verblijven. Bedden waren te zacht voor ons. Ook goed ontbijt. Meer dan genoeg.

Enttäuschung auf der ganzen Linie!

Das ist kein 4-Sterne-Hotel für mindestens 96,-€ pro Nacht!!! Die Rezeption war nicht von 7 - 23 Uhr besetzt. Im ganzen Haus befand sich kein einziger Hotelmitarbeiter. Als wir ankamen, standen wir vor verschlossener Tür. Mit einem elektronischen Rufsystem mussten wir Kontakt mit einem Anrufbeantworter aufnehmen. Daraufhin bekamen wir komplizierte Anweisungen per Handy, um ins Hotel zu kommen.Es gab auch keine Bar. Das Haus war nur zum Frühstück und zum Zimmer Aufräumen besetzt, also von 7 bis etwa 11 Uhr. Das Frühstück war komplett abgepackt: keine frische Scheibe Wurst oder Käse, kein Obst, keine Scheibe Tomate. Nichts, nur Astronautenfutter. Es gab genau eine halbe Tasse Kaffee, mehr sollte man extra bezahlen.Service hieß Handtuchwechsel:pro Person ein Badetuch und ein halbes Handtuch.Das ist absolut kein Vier-Sterne-Hotel. Die Angaben im Internet sind falsch.Das Zimmer war weder elegant noch großzügig, wie es auf der Website heißt. Die Fenster waren stark verschmutzt und die Gardine eingerissen.Das Interieur alt, verwohnt und geschmacklos.Denn das ist kein 4-Sterne-Hotel und die Zimmerpreise sind in keiner Weise gerechtfertigt!

I had a six night stay at the Marienpoel and it was wonderful to come back to a large, clean, comfortable room after a full day of sightseeing. The host was very gracious, and accommodating (and I wish I could remember his name!). The neighborhood was quiet at night. Leiden is a wonderful place to stay -- centrally located to Amsterdam, the Hague, Delft, the beach --and the Marienpoel is a wonderful place to see it all from!

Goed hotel op loopafstand van oude stadscentrum.

Nette, schone kamer. Ontbijt op kamer. Uitstekende uitvalsbasis voor bezoek centrum Leiden. Loopafstand prima te doen.

Reservation problem and rude service

The Marienpol hotel internet had apparently been down when hotels.com "confirmed" our booking - so although we received multiple confirmations of our booking at the Marienpol from hotels.com, when we arrived at the hotel itself on the evening of the reservation, we told that we in fact had no reservation. We were also told that we had to go elsewhere because the hotel was sold out. Finally, despite the fact that we were now roomless in a foreign country and needed to make alternative arrangements, the hotel management would neither let us use the hotel wifi to make other arrangements or park our car. The staff member with whom we interacted was very rude. (All ratings for all categories besides service were guesses because leaving a review requires filling in all categories but we were never in fact given a room!).

1 night in Leiden

Lovely single room, the bed of a small double size so pretty roomy. Did only have one pillow (and I'm fussy with pillows and didn't like it!). good in-room facilities like teapot and stocked mini-fridge (didn't use), tv with usual channels. Breakfast delivered between 7-9am to your room (you can pick the time and they stick with it). The only thing is is says 4stars and full price well above what I paid, but I wouldn't rate it that high. My experience with 4 stars is roomier, luxury rooms with bathrooms,slippers and lots of bathroom goodies. This was a very good 3star, leaning against b&b or guest house rather than hotel. But nevertheless lovely stay and enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend at the Expedia offer price I got.

Good base for travel in the Netherlands

I used this hotel as a central location for my two weeks in the Netherlands. The hotel was extremely clean with hospitable owner and staff. Located approximately one-fourth mile from the train station, the station is considered a main station. This made it convenient to get south to Delft, the Hague, Gouda, and Rotterdam, and north to Amsterdam, Haarlem, and Altmeer. The hotel has no restaurant, but restaurants are located within the train station and a short walk close to it. A Jumbo grocery store is located across the street from the train station. The owner emptied the room's refrigerator so I could keep food. My room was simply furnished with no easy chair, but met my needs very well. I would return not only because of the location and reasonable cost, but also because of the very friendly staff, cleanliness, and maintenance of the entire hotel. The owner arranged a taxi to get me to Schipol, a cost of 46 Euros. The bus to reach the Keukenhof garden was in front of the train station.

Eksempel på misvisende stjernegradering

Hvordan kan dette hotellet ha 4 stjerner? Vi sjekket inn kl 21.00 på kvelden. Alt vi møtte var en lapp med beskjed om å ringe et telefonnummer. En stemme i en høyttaler på veggen ga oss et kodenummer, som igjen åpnet en boks hvor nøkkelen lå. Ingen betjening på hotellet. Stemmen spurte også om når vi ville ha frokost mellom kl.07.00 og kl 09.00. Dagen etter ble frokosten servert i en kurv og et brett utenfor hotellrommet. Lunken kaffe, men et relativt bra assortert utvalg påleggssorter i kurven. Osten i ostelandet Nederland var ikke god. Hotellet har ikke matsal, du ser ingen andre gjester, og den enkle baren er kun åpen på dagtid når den er betjent. Men verten var hyggelig og hjelpsom, og det berger en 2'er framfor en 1'er. Hotellet er definitivt ikke et firestjerners hotell, det er mer et enkelt B&B overnattingssted.

Cute, cozy and Clean

Quirky little hotel with a bed and breakfast feel. Very strange check in procedure, didn't meet a person. But thought the hotel was nice, clean, cozy and close to the train station and hospital. The town itself is just the other side of the train station.

Som ledsager for en handikappet ung mand var området og hotellet ideelt, da det var ganske nemt og enkelt. Ud over det lå det i et roligt og pænt område.
