Theatre Albany is an amateur production company in downtown Albany, Georgia. Visit this lovely theater to enjoy great quality performances, which take place within a famous pre-Civil War historic building, the former house of Captain John A. Davis.

Five or six major productions are usually offered during the regular season of the theater. Located on tree-lined Pine Avenue, the theater has over 300 seats and has been offering remarkable performances since its inauguration in 1932. It also offers interesting workshops, including the Summer Youth Workshop, where kids from elementary through high school level can engage in fun theater activities and be part of a performance at the end of the program. Get to know an award-winning production company and discover one of the oldest and most famous cultural institutions in the city.

This renowned theater in Albany occupied different downtown sites for 30 years, before finding and acquiring the John A. Davis House in 1964 for its permanent residence. The house is also known as Albany Little Theatre and is a beautiful building with elegant white columns. It was built around the year 1853 as an Italianate villa. It previously had a central brick tower flanked by one-story wooden porches and had a small theater added to the house in the 1960s. See this important landmark, which earned a designation on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1980. This register is an official list from the United States federal government of buildings, sites, structures, objects and districts that are considered worthy of preservation for future generations to enjoy.

While you are in Albany, be sure to enjoy some of the great performances offered in Theatre Albany. The shows are quite diverse. You’ll find acts ranging from famous Broadway musicals to contemporary plays, classic dramas and even original works. Recent seasons have included The Addams Family, Death by Golf and Ain’t Misbehavin’. Contact the theater through its website to purchase tickets.
