Beneath Australia’s tallest mountain, this ski resort offers spacious slopes, exciting terrain and the country’s longest ski trail.

Whether you’re visiting the snow for the first time or a seasoned expert, Thredbo in New South Wales’ magnificent Snowy Mountains offers exciting alpine adventures. Experience Thredbo’s diverse terrain as you ski, snowboard, mountain bike or hike around stunning landscapes. Enjoy the charming village area, scenic chairlifts and fun-filled music festival at the foot of Mount Kosciuszko, Australia’s tallest peak.

Grab your winter gear or rent equipment from the resort. Select from beginner, intermediate and expert areas and explore the mountain. Get local insight and fine-tune your technique with lessons from Thredbo ski instructors.

Thredbo has 14 lifts, providing easy access to widely diverse trails. Reach Australia’s highest lift summit and ski down a meandering 3.7-mile-long (5.9-kilometer) run. Experience some of the country’s steepest resort terrain, wide groomed slopes, challenging mogul runs and four terrain parks. Check out bumps, boxes and jumps in these parks, which are graded by ability. Antons Park has large jumps and a long wall ride for experienced freestyle skiers and snowboarders.

Bring kids to Thredbo’s exciting snow parks and tobogganing runs. Visit on Saturdays to join the fun as 1,000 or more skiers carrying lighted flares streak down the mountain as fireworks burst overhead.

Appreciate the tranquility of Kosciuszko National Park with a snowshoeing or cross-country skiing expedition. Enjoy unbeatable views of backcountry wilderness and chutes of pristine powder. Tours and lessons in cross-country and telemark skiing are available.

Thredbo village has a wide range of cafés, bars and restaurants and a shopping strip. Stay in chalet-style apartments or cozy hotel rooms. A resort shuttle bus provides access to accommodations farther from the slopes.

Reach Thredbo within a 2.5-hour drive from Canberra Airport. Buses connect Thredbo to several other surrounding towns and major cities. The ski season runs between June and October. In summer, check out Thredbo’s beautiful mountain landscapes on foot or by mountain bike. Climb the peak of Mount Kosciuszko and see wildflowers and giant rock formations or enjoy the views from a scenic chairlift.

Thredbo is lovely and quaint. The view is always amazing. The service was friendly and meals were delicious, though eating out is pricey (it can’t be easy to get stock there!)

Loved the village atmosphere. Eventhough it was crowded at times you could find a nice quiet area to chill out

Good areas to explore. No lines in Spring. Snow a little slushy lunchtime onward and pretty chopped up but stick to the high areas and explore of piste.

just worn out still as it was in the 50 years ago needs a total rebuild to bring it up to todays standards
