Historic BREECHES POCKET- Immaculate,Civil W Era Log Cabin/ House Gettysburg; DC

Nestled in the foothills of Catoctin National Park (home of the Presidential Retreat Camp David), this home is near Gettysburg and other historic locations.
It is not just a cabin in the woods—it is a home that took two years of great carpentry and masonry work.
This historic (circa 1860) log home was relocated and rebuilt, piece by piece, in 2003. A new addition contains a kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and sunroom.
Located on the historic "Saint Elizabeth" (circa 1745) farm property, 1500 feet from our farmhouse, the cabin was remodeled as a luxury, upscale guesthouse, using the finest materials and craftsmanship, including handmade pieces by owner and resident wood-maker, Bill Eyler.
Cheerful and cozy, there is nothing 'rough' about this home. It boasts great views and privacy and is only minutes from food markets, restaurants, and countless activities, from hiking and skiing to ghost tours, wineries, and Civil War monuments.
This is a property for the discriminating traveler who desires the highest quality. Please look for the blue mailboxes and gristmill "wheel" at the entrance to the property.
We attempt to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and you will always find this home in top condition and working order. Please visit with us and give us your thoughts—we know they will be happy ones.
All towels and linens are supplied, and the kitchen is fully stocked.

Lovely renovated historic home
The house and grounds are wonderful. The house is cozy, beautifully furnished, and comfortable. There are plenty of places to spread out in the living room and sunroom as well as several outdoor areas in good weather. We enjoyed happy hour and games on the side deck. The grounds are secluded and beautiful. Highly recommend this property.

The Perfect Location
The Breeches Pocket was an ideal location for filming our short film. The hosts were most cooperative and accommodating. The accommodations were clean and perfect for our group. We will be returning for personal use when we visit the surrounding parks and historical attractions.

Beautiful home in great location
We loved this house for our trip to Gettysburg. The bedrooms and bathrooms were fantastic and the decor was beautiful. The kitchen was a little less clean and organized, but we found everything we needed for cooking both nights. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home!

Refined place full of history to discover the Gettysburg area
The purpose of this getaway was for a group of friends to get together, go skying in the area and relax. The house helped to unwind and disconnect from 2023, with its own history (inside and outside architecture) and refined decor that matched, but with all the amenities of the modern world. We ended up not skying instead going for walks in the Catoctin Mountain Park and relaxing!

Breeches Pocket delivers yet again
We had a great time this past weekend. We've come here nearly 10 times and everything is always in great condition. One item I hadn't noticed before is the very guest-friendly check-out policy. Official check-out time is 11:30, which is a relief from other rentals where you have to race out the door first thing in the morning. Also, Chris/Bill have limited/reasonable expectations for items to take care of at check-out. Hope to stay here again soon!

Fantastic stay!
The property was GORGEOUS and had all the amenities we could need. The perfect balance between rustic/country charm and modern comfort. We had such a beautiful time. And easy driving to good hikes and an antique mall. Funky layout with bedrooms/bathrooms (you always have to walk through at least one bedroom to get to a bathroom) but it wasn't a problem at all (especially since the bathrooms were so nice!). Note: There were only beds for 9 people (4 doubles and one single). It worked out fine with the couch in the sun room, but it would've been nice to have that last bed.

Cozy Home
We enjoyed our stay at your cozy home. The location is great for many local attractions, and although the house is relatively close to a road, the surrounding trees makes it feel otherwise. The house had all the necessities. Even for small children! The bathroom layout was not optimal, but the charm of the house made up for that. We had the added pleasure of staying right after Christmas and the decorations were beautiful. Our 18 month old granddaughter who visited for a day loved the characters hanging on the mantle. Thank you so much for making your home a warm and welcome place to stay. Thanks for your hospitality.

1860 cabin with all the luxuries of home.
Visited area for a three day holiday weekend with family. Bill and Chris answered any of my pre-check in questions in timely manner. Check in easy, Chris even stopped over to make sure we didn’t have any questions or concerns. Overall - house very clean and well stocked with plenty of outdoor space for kids. Kitchen and bathrooms modern. It was an interesting contrast to other lovely rooms with antique furniture and decor. Porch with gas grill and table/chairs. Visited Catoctin wildlife park, Catoctin National Park and Cunningham State Park, all no more than 15 minute drive from cabin. We hope to return for another long weekend in the future.

PERFECT weekend escape!
Far enough away and yet not that far at all! The house is absolutely GORGEOUS! Each spring we get together (8-10) of us girls, for a weekend, we all live in/near Baltimore. We try to get far enough away from the kids n husbands so we can't be easily summoned back, but don't want to spend the entire time traveling. This was perfect! This house has all modern amenities, with the touches of country life. The nearby neighbors have a TON of friendly goats and horses and allowed us to say hi :) Initially, we had hoped to hike on Saturday but got rained out - LUCKILY, Frederick is only 15 mins away and we spent the day in the town shopping (bummer - not). We spent Saturday evening around the fire pit making smores. We will def consider this home for future excursions.

Loved this house!
This is a gem of a house. First of all, it is so lovingly restored and charming. Everything was top notch and immaculately clean. The owners have gone above and beyond to provide everything you could possibly need. The beds were so comfortable, there were tons of towels, soap, shampoos, paper products, coffee, sugar, and everything else you need for cooking, pack and plays, high chairs and plenty of toys, puzzles and games. And I have probably left things out! The bathroom showers were great! With the living room and sun porch there was plenty of room for a large family....we were a group of 12.There are 2 outside porches with comfy chairs and tables to eat outdoors, and a lower level with a fire pit. It's located on a large property that had a big field right down the hill. Our grandkids loved being able to run around outside and we played family soccer games. Bill and Chris were easily reachable and very responsive. It's also so close to the National and State parks with great hiking and a public lake (there is a fee to access the lake). We had a fantastic family weekend. I really can't say enough positive about this charming home and beautiful property. We would love to return. Thank you Bill and Chris for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Beautiful home, convenient location
This beautiful home was built by the owners and is tastefully decorated as well as nicely maintained. The location makes it extremely convenient for day trips to surrounding towns such as Frederick, Harper's Ferry and Gettysburg. The home is comfortable and can easily accommodate a large group. The hosts are very responsive. We enjoyed our stay and would rebook if we were to return to the area.
