Spencer Salt-Side Cottage (Twillingate)

Summary:
This beautifully remodelled salt box-style home sits on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, overlooking Twillingate's scenic harbour. Lovingly designed, guests will feel immersed in the beauty of coastal Newfoundland from every corner of the home. Whether enjoying a bath, reading on the day bed, cooking in the kitchen, lounging on the deck, or making a fire on the beach, guests will revel in the serenity of Twillingate.

The Space:
Spencer Salt-Side Cottage sits right on the ocean's edge in the heart of Twillingate.

You'll enter the home through the great room, an open-concept living/kitchen/dining area with three large windows providing panoramic views of Twillingate's harbour.

The kitchen is fully equipped for those who wish to cook and includes a coffee/bar nook for prepping your favourite beverages. The dining area and living space are filled with a mix of traditional and vintage furnishings, perfectly suited to the surroundings.

The home has two private bedrooms with queen beds, and an open loft area on the 2nd floor with a queen bed and a twin bed.

The 1st private bedroom is on the main floor, with a lovely ocean view. Also, on the main floor, is a 3-piece bathroom with a shower. As you head upstairs, you'll be once again immersed in the beautiful landscape surrounding the home. You'll enter a loft with lots of space to lounge, including a twin bed and a queen bed, where you can comfortably soak up the relaxing vibes. Also on the 2nd floor, there is a 4-piece bathroom including a shower and a 66" soaker tup situated perfectly to enjoy the views. The second private bedroom sits just off the loft area and includes a queen bed and sitting area with views of the harbour and the surrounding hills.

Guest Access:
Spencer Salt-Side Cottage is located on Twillingate's south island, just off of Main Street. When you enter Twillingate on Route 340, you'll reach a T in the road, where you'll take a right. You'll drive for approximately 1 km, when you'll notice a small lane heading to a bright orange cottage sitting on the water's edge. If you head up a hill and pass the Gospel Church, you've gone too far. The cottage sits down from the road, so keep your eyes peeled for the bright orange. There are at least three parking spots on the property.

The Neighborhood:
The cottage is nestled on the waterfront on Twillingate's south island.

Getting Around:
Driving is the most typical way that visitors explore Twillingate and area. That said, it is a walker/hikers dream. Whether you prefer the road or the trails, there is so much to explore. Just steps from Spencer Salt-Side Cottage, you can walk beautiful beaches, enjoy your own beach fire and maybe even spot icebergs out in Twillingate Harbour.

Other Things to Note:
Spencer Salt-Side Cottage is in the Town of Twillingate, overlooking the harbour. The cottage is within walking distance of some of Twillingate's south island restaurants and attractions. All that Twillingate has to offer is only a short drive away; including the Rockcut Twillingate Trails, a local craft brewery, a winery producing wine from local berries, museums, live entertainment, coffee shops, galleries, restaurants, boat and kayak tours.
Please note only registered guests are permitted in this property, and as much we love furry friends, no pets are allowed.

10 stars if I could
Our home away from home! We, 2 couples in our 60s, planned a 10-day vacation in Newfoundland and this was our first stop, 2 nights in Twillingate at the Spencer Salt-side Cottage. We all agree that we will return to Twillingate, and more specifically at the Spencer Salt-Side Cottage. A perfectly situated cottage with a gorgeous view of the Twillingate harbour and icebergs right in front of our windows !! (end of June) We felt at home the second we stepped in this beautiful, bright and fully equipped cottage. The decor is absolutely charming. None of us wanted to leave. Thank you Marie, we loved our stay!

Expensive, but Worth It!
The location of this adorable orange cottage is just perfect - perched on the water with views from every window! The cottage also had modern amenities (climate control in each room, washer, drier, dishwasher, stocked kitchen, nicer flatscreen televisions, fast WIFI). We did not have favorable weather in Twillingate, so the comfort of the home became very important to us and we would definitely return to this cottage!

"Come Home": Wish this was it!
Spencer Salt-side is outstanding in all respects. Since it sits mere meters from ocean's edge, and has huge picture windows, the view is amazing, enhanced by large icebergs and growlers. Despite foggy, rainy weather this place is warm, cheerful (due to wild use of color) and comfortable. It is thoroughly stocked with kitchen stuff, bedding stuff, laundry stuff (needed that), and game stuff (didn't need these!). The location is convenient to the whole region with its countless good restaurants. We highly recommend it; just give yourselves plenty of time!

This was as close to a perfect stay as we’ve experienced in 25 or more such rentals. Even though weather can be hit or miss in May the rental more than made up for this. Amazing water views from both the deck and all the rooms with large picture windows throughout. Two floors, lots of beds and home feels solidly built and is very quiet. Beautifully decorated. Great bathrooms too and very fair pricing. Also not super cheap with the supplies as some places are. Would highly recommend.

Nicely Renovated Waterfront Cottage
Nicely renovated "salt box" cottage. Great view of Twillingate Harbor via large windows & nice outdoor deck. Stairs down to a rocky beach with firepit. Comfortable bed & furniture. Nicely decorated with authentic "salt box" décor. Relatively quiet location on short dead end lane just off the main road (neighbor on one side, scenic hillside on the other). Appliances (refrigerator, range, dishwasher, washer/dryer) all worked well but are rather small (not a problem for us...but could be an issue for a large group). Cottage does have A/C which was appreciated during unusually hot Newfoundland weather. Would definitely recommend.

Like paradise
As soon as we opened the door, we felt we were in a Home & Garden showroom in paradise. Beautifully decorated nautical theme, the bright exterior colour that we have come to expect in NL, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay for spectacular sunsets, stairs to the beach and comfortable walks in the area. Quiet location yet walking distance to downtown. Full complement of amenities in excellent condition, easy access to wifi and communication with host. We really wanted to stay longer but alas we had to move to our next stop.

Gem on the edge of the water
This is an adorable little cottage. Perched on the edge of Twillingate Harbour, it has a magnificent view of the surrounding town and landscape. The interior is very well decorated, giving it a very cozy feel. There is even a guitar and ukulele that my daughters picked up and started to learn some songs. This is definitely one of those properties that stand out from the rest. It is definitely worth booking.
