With perfect slopes, challenging backcountry, modern lifts and a charming village, this resort in the Espace Killy continues to raise the bar for alpine ski resorts.

Val d'Isère is an alpine resort in the Tarentaise Valley of southeastern France. Famed for diverse runs, magnificent alpine scenery and beautiful stone-and-wood chalets, Val d'Isère encompasses a vast area of perfectly groomed slopes and challenging backcountry. Visit the resort and its neighbor Tignes in the legendary Espace Killy, named after the triple Olympic champion. With nearly 2,500 acres (1,000 hectares) of skiable terrain, Val d'Isère has room for skiers and boarders with a variety of skill levels to cruise the slopes. Learn how to ski or board on the same runs once frequented by Jean-Claude Killy, the famous alpine ski racer. Use the more than 20 different lifts to access the trails. Start on the green-graded beginner slopes or seek thrills on Bellevarde’s La Face downhill slope. This run was designed for the 1992 Winter Olympics, with near-vertical drops making this slope worthy of its revered status.Book lessons with the Val d'Isère ski schools and unlock exciting new parts of the mountain. Hit the terrain park or the halfpipe to practice your jumps, slides and aerial tricks. Experienced skiers with a bit of endurance will be rewarded with majestic alpine views on Val d'Isère’s wide expanse of cross-country and off-piste areas. Explore Le Fornet, the resort’s glacier ski area.Relax in the village between sessions on the mountain and discover Val d'Isère’s picturesque pedestrianized main street. Find cafés, restaurants, bars, art galleries, a cinema and shops selling top-quality gear and ski fashion. Stay in luxury chalets or modern apartments in one of Val d'Isère’s charming hamlets, including historic Le Cret and convenient La Daille.Close to the Italian Alpine border, Val d'Isère has exceptional snow coverage and a long season, lasting from late November to early May. Fly into Geneva, Chambéry or Lyon or catch a train to Bourg-St. Maurice. The resort has limited parking, so catch scenic buses or charter shuttles to your lodgings on one of France’s finest mountains.
