This is a 2 part review, as our stay was great but our experience with the head office in Colombo was terrible.
The Camp is a great place if you really want to get away from everything. There is no cell service or wifi in most of the camp, just one corner where phones will work. And it’s quiet and beautiful. We hoped to go into the National Park but due to flooding we could not. However, we still enjoyed our stay in the jungle. Nipanu and staff were very friendly, the food was amazing, rooms very comfortable. If we could avoid dealing with the head office, we would stay again. Do note that you need high clearance to get to the camp, but they will pick you up and have a place to park your car if you need a lift from close by.
Unfortunately our experience with the head office was terrible and our dispute is not over. We prepaid for 4 triple chalets. When I called the day before check in to make sure all was set, I was told they only had 2 chalets and 4 tent beds. I’m not sure what would have happened if I had not called ahead, since they made no attempt to call me, but I agreed to take these lesser rooms and they agreed to provide jeep rides to make up the difference. When the jeeps were not possible due to rain, they agreed to refund the amount to my bank account. It is now 4 weeks later and I have not received the money and they have now told hotels.com that they will not refund my money. I am disputing this with my credit card company.
