In the rear of the house in a private nook, is an Outdoor Shower Area surrounded with lush tropical plantings.
Also in the backyard is a covered gazebo with chairs for sitting and relaxing, along with a BBQ grill for grilling your favorites, the local catch of the day, or lobsters from the fish market.

Steps away from Lydia's Colmado, (neighborhood market), which is convenient for any small items.
Steps away from everything in Esperanza, as the whole town is easily walkable. A car rental is not necessary, although you may want one to explore the rest of what Vieques has to offer.

Dos Palmas Casita is located in a nice residential neighborhood with great neighbors, a mix of local residents and rental properties.
There are dogs, cats, chickens, horses, coqui, iguanas, and mongoose that freely roam Vieques, and at times the neighborhood as well. You will undoubtedly see and hear several varieties of Vieques wildlife during your stay. It's totally different than our neighborhood in the states, and that's why we love it as we do

TRAVELING TO VIEQUES-
Vieques can seem to be a little daunting to get to at first glance, the good news is that once you do arrive you won't want to leave!
There are several options in traveling from SJU to Vieques, and the price for each can vary greatly. When guests book with us we send them an email detailing the options available, along with the most up to date pricing to help them decide which option would work best depending on their budget and travel times.

Thank You for considering our vacation Casita.

Great stay at Dos Palmas!
My husband and I stayed in Dos Palmas over New Years and really enjoyed our stay! We had everything we needed to be comfortable and took full advantage of all the fabulous restaurants only a few minutes away. We both agree this is the best part of Vieques and would definitely recommend it to anyone! Thank you to Chip and Angie for a fabulous stay!

Wonderful place to Relax!
We stayed at Dos Palmas for 5 nights and loved it. This is a great place for a couple. The location is great, really liked having the front porch to sit out on. It was a great spot to go out from and explore all of the beaches on Vieques. We purchased freshly caught fish at the fish market in Isabella II and grilled it on the gas grill in the backyard. We cannot wait to go back!

Wonderful spot, short safe walk to Esperanza
Cute and clean place to stay. Comfortable bed, clean sheets. Kitchen had everything we needed for a three night stay. We borrowed cooler, beach chairs and towels for day trips. Owners Chip and Angie were awesome with communications and Miguel across the street was very attentive. Great place. No complaints. Thank you.

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
This house has the perfect location. You feel like you are hanging out in the local neighborhood. The local grocery store, the malecon, and most restaurants are easy walking.. The property manager lives across the street and is a wealth of information. The house is well stocked with everything you might need. We loved it!

Amazing stay in Esperanza!
We had an amazing stay at Chip and Angies rental in Esperanza! Great location - the unit is exceptionally clean and has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked (pots, pans, utensils, etc.), and they had everything you'd want for the perfect beach day (snorkels/fins, chairs, cooler, etc). Chip and Angie are extremely quick to respond and were amazing to provide all the details prior to arrival. Miguel the property manager was equally great! He greeted us upon arrival and showed us all around, and just across the street if we ever needed anything. Would highly recommend staying here!

Great place in a fabulous destination
Our stay in Dos Palmas Casita was part of a long-awaited Caribbean trip we had originally planned for last fall. We had to postpone the trip because of the hurricanes and we were a little apprehensive to go this soon, but we’re so glad we did. While there is definitely still evidence of storm damage and recovery the limitations didn’t reduce our enjoyment at all. We had more than enough to do and Vieques was the highlight of our trip. The Bio Bay was a “5” the night we went (with Fun Brothers) and it was still amazing. Really an adventure not to be missed. Chip and Angie are great hosts and their place is super clean and comfortable. We had zero bugs, which is really remarkable in these tropical climates. The location is very convenient - easy walking distance to the Malecon and a nice market. The neighborhood is very clean and the neighbors are friendly. We’ll definitely come back to Vieques again and we’d book Dos Palmas again.

Fantastic Property, Great Hosts!!!
We stayed for 5 days at Dos Palmas and couldn't have asked for more from the property or our hosts Chip and Angie. The house was fully equipped with everything you need. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked, and we were provided with loads of information about the island. Angie left us a care package with sunscreen, bug spray and toiletries, which was very much appreciated. All of the kitchenware was in great shape and very well looked after. The neighbors are very pleasant and will come over for a friendly chat. You get the feeling that they're also keeping an eye on the house, which makes it feel very safe. Your two blocks from the Malecon, and one from a small grocery store and bakery with delicious pastries. Being that little extra distance from the main drag means that you don't hear the bars at night time, but are a very close walk to some of the best beaches, and places to catch a taxi if you don't want to rent a car. A great location and comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

An absolutely perfect vacation
I absolutely fell in love with Vieques in part due to the beautiful accommodations at Dos Palmas. I traveled alone for 7 days and this property was a perfect home base. Located on a beautiful, safe and clean street in the heart of Esperanza, this house is about a 4 minute walk from the town's bars and restaurants, and another 5 minutes from one of the most gorgeous beaches I have ever experienced. The accommodations were comfortable, safe and convenient - it was nice to have a full kitchen in the event I wanted to eat in, and the large outdoor patio was perfect for morning coffee. The garage is stocked with everything you'll need for the beach (chairs, coolers, umbrellas, etc), and even a washer and dryer, making it very easy to pack light. A few feet away are a convenience store and a bakery, the latter of which serves the best bread and donuts I have ever had in my life. Just a perfect location in a perfect town on a perfect island. Chip and Angie were super responsive and helpful in their recommendations and advice. I will most definitely be returning next time I am in Vieques (hopefully very soon!).

Misleading
Not as advertised. Found out upon checking in that backyard with grill and outdoor shower were off-limits for our stay. TV in the bedroom of a 2-room apt. Is understandable, if the tv actually works without the help of the owner. AC was unable to maintain less than 76 degrees after the first night. I made 2 requests regarding if there was a secret to getting the tv to work, but owner had other things on her mind I think. She did assist in getting it to work on our last night. We wouldn't return for another stay for half the cost. I'll definitely ask more questions if we elect to use a vrbo facility again.

The apartment is super cute and exactly what we were looking for!
First of all Chip and Angie not only had a great little apartment but they were super helpful in our travels. When we booked the apartment we were still uncertain about how we were getting from San Juan to Vieques and Chip and Angie were super helpful in figuring that out. They even recommended a driver from San Juan to Ceiba who was great and very friendly. When we did get there they were very accommodating with our check in and we loved the apartment. It's not very large or fancy but it's perfect if you're on the island to actually explore and go out. The kitchen was great as was the bed and bathroom, it was very clean and the outdoor shower was cool and having laundry was helpful. There are two little convenience stores within a 2 minute walk and a great little bakery as well. There are a lot of stray chickens/roosters around as well as dogs that all make noise, but it didn't bother my wife or I at all, plus Angie and Chip graciously provide ear plugs in case it does bother you. We loved the island, all the beautiful beaches, shops, restaurants and can't wait to come back and we will certainly stay at Dos Palmas next time we visit.

Lovely stay!
Our stay here was pleasant! We apparently scheduled our vacation during peak hurricane season (our mistake). The rain from tropical storms Danielle and Earl was actually very refreshing. Our stays were in both the bottom and top apartment and both were equipped with the perfect essential utilities and amenities for both kids and adults. I was thankful that they supplied LED battery operated emergency lights because we did lose power and of course we didn’t have our cell phones charged enough to use the phone flash light! Their towels prepped for us smelled so good! The owners and property manager, Miguel were all great! Miguel especially was awesome. He was there to greet us upon pulling up to the driveway as he lives across the street with his lovely wife. Miguel was attentive and so friendly and helpful. His smile was so welcoming! This place was also conveniently located to what is pretty much the only strip of currently open bars and “night life” during this time of year. Everything else was pretty much closed or closed before or by 8pm. The strip was a 5 minute walk and there was always one place open until 2am some nights a little later. Great music and the people here for the most part were so friendly too. If you’re looking for a safe, secure, clean and welcoming stay, these two apartments are it!

Local Neighborhood
This is a small almost studio type apartment. The kitchen area was well equipped and there was a gas grill in the back for our use. We did cook most of our own meals. The property had beach chairs and coolers for our use and had shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, lotion, a nice beach bag to load our books and other beach things into and nice beach towels. We were able to wash and dry clothes with the laundry detergent already there. There was a small flat screen TV in the bedroom but we weren't sure what we could use it for as there was no TV service. The space was clean and well furnished. The neighbors were friendly. It was a short walk to the main downtown area and the ocean...lots of eating places along this strip. We ate a Belly Buttons a couple of times and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The views along this area are beautiful. The horses, chickens and dogs were plentiful through out the island. It was a unique sight to see as they roamed down the street at anytime of the day or night. We drove to beaches from here which was but a short drive 10-15 minutes to some incredible sandy beaches. We only stayed at the property for 4 nights and then moved on to a bigger place on the other side of the Island for the remainder of the 3 weeks that we spent on Vieques. If you are traveling light and are out and about most of the time this is the place for you.

Lovely home in a great location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dos Palmas. We enjoyed the house. Nice touches to have a beach bag, grocery bags, snorkel gear and washer/dryer available for use. The house temperature was great. The biggest downside is ultimately the nighttime sounds--mainly the roosters. The house provides ear plugs but those aren't comfortable for me. I suggest bringing a sound machine or using your computer for sounds. There is no hot water at the bathroom sink which was hard to remember. We took the Ferry over. No problems getting tickets and dramamine made for a very easy trip. Just very cold so dress accordingly. Another problem for me--and nothing to do with the home, is that without a car, your grocery options will be very limited. We eat clean/organic and found that everything at the two grocery stores within walking distance were not compliant--so many preservatives. I suggest that you make a trip up to the market or stop before coming to Dos Palmas. We also heard about the great Farmer's Market and the Pescaderia--both of which we didn't visit but wished we would have. My stomach was a bit off since I typically eat sugar, gluten and dairy free. The next time we come, we will make a point to bring more over on the ferry or stop at the markets. The locals are extremely nice and we had little trouble speaking with them. It's amazing after 5 days how much Spanish comes back to your mind. We used Alejito for transportation. He is a very nice man. He took us to Playa Caracas and to the house after the ferry. Alejandro "Alejito" 787.874.3802 One of our favorite things was to go to Bananas on the Malecon for happy hour. Perfect for the laid back lifestyle. 2 Happy Hours: 11:30AM-1PM and 4:30PM-6PM. I recommend the fish tacos ($4) and the rum punch ($4). Food is fantastic and the servers are great. We were told to grab burgers at Duffy's and trifongo at Cafe del Mar. We enjoyed the Bio Bay tour with JAK watersports. We saw mixed reviews about them but they were fantastic. From the knowledge of the bay to the vast knowledge of the stars, it was wonderful. We saw fish in the water and shooting stars that night. Chip and Angie were great and we hope to come back with our family in tow. They were fabulous and super helpful.

Piece of Paradise
Lovely apartment less than 5 minutes from the main strip in Esperanza, but secluded enough for quiet nights. Gated driveway for a rental car/golf cart, outdoor hose and shower to rinse of sand, full-size fridge, plenty of fans throughout and a/c in the bedroom. A plethora of beach chairs and coolers are available for use, along with laundry on-site.

Clean + comfy beach respite
For a couple, it was spacious and very clean. My wife is a bit of a germaphobe and she felt extremely comfortable. It was well stocked with everything from sunscreen and bug spray to shampoo, and even nail polish remover. Even if something isn't there, you are right around the corner from the local store. The neighborhood is great - you are a 5 min walk from the Malecon, near different beaches, and are part of a nice residential community where you feel very safe. There are a lot of stray animals in the neighborhood but they do not pose any danger to you if you don't bother them. Chip and Angie were so helpful with making sure we checked in ok and gave recommendations as to where to go in the area, and were happy to talk to us before we took our trip and when we arrived. Miguel, the property manager, lives right across the street and was very friendly and available to answer questions and help out. If you need an affordable place to go and relax for a week, this is the place to do it.
