Friendly and courteous staff Our room had a few things that were not fixed before and during our stay. I left this message at the front desk when checking out 1. A Faucet in the bathtub did not stop dripping during our stay 2. The TV was not fixed as requested 3. The screen of the room telephone was not fixed prior to our arrival

I recently stayed at this hotel, and my experience was nothing short of frustrating. On the first night, I arrived late and was given a room with a foul odor and no heat. After waking up the receptionist (literally), I was moved to another room, but this was just the beginning of the problems. The second night, my wife and I started having allergic reactions. At first, we thought we were getting sick, but we later discovered a large, hairy dog staying two doors down. I had specifically been told no animals were allowed on the third floor, which turned out to be untrue. When I brought this up with the front desk, nothing was done, even though it was a clear policy violation. Adding to the frustration, hotel staff repeatedly knocked on our door while I was resting, saying they needed to "make changes" to the room. This was disruptive and unnecessary. The second room, while slightly more outdated than the first, had its own issues. The toilet clogged, and with no maintenance staff available, I had to go to the front desk to get a plunger. The plunger was handed to me uncovered, with something questionable on the handle. When I asked for a bag, it felt like an unusual request for the staff. The lack of attention to basic cleanliness and service was shocking. I also had to frequently request basic toiletries like tissue. Despite all this, I had no choice but to stay due to the late hour. Water from bathroom sink dirty/rusty first run in the morning. Floor clean with grease mop in the room. Bed linen not change during entire stay. Showed picture of water to desk clerk from sink. He displayed a care less attitude about the condition.

Never stay again!
As we have stayed in other La Quinta hotels before that were very nice, I have to say we were shocked. The first thing we had to deal with was a stopped up toilet in which we had to wait for around 1 1/2 hrs. for maintenance to take care of and by the next morning, it was starting to give problems again, not sure if this was based on previous tenants or not. Also there was no remote in the room at all and so we had to wait again for someone to download channels or something before that was set up. I believe my husband had to ask for towels and I know for certain I had to ask for an additional blanket. This is all not to mention that the air conditioner was so loud and rattled so bad that in order to get even the 1 hour of sleep we did get was only because we each tossed and turned with another pillow covering our ears. Needless to say, we will never stay at this La Quinta again. When we come back to the beach again, we will be spending the night elsewhere. If I could have gotten a refund, I would have left and gotten another hotel.

The room was ok but a little dirty. They should have kept the carpet. We did get a good night sleep. The breakfast was acceptable. I understand that they were still doing renovations and upgrades. The TV didn't work the first night but the streaming did. They got that srtaight then next day. They did make every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The GM did say that he wanted to charge upwards of $250 for a weekend night. That's just preposteous! That hotel is by no means worth that amount with old TV's, Standard def video, Hard floors that are dirty, no security cameras in the halls and a continental breakfast. Military highway was a much more luxurious stay with a better breakfast at around $160. I just couldn't afford thaqt at the time. I think This hotel was worth what I paid.

Could not give working key cards.
A load of issues. We didn't even get into a room before choosing to leave. Staff gave us a key card which didn't work. When it didn't work we got a new one 2 more times which didn't work either. 3 key cards, and none of them worked. There were 4 other guest who also were not able to get into their rooms either. One of them also opted to leave. There were puddles in the hall, and we saw a roach outside.

Check in went smooth The room I had needed some attention . Closet door had dents , flooring had some opening, no black out curtain , curtain was plain no privacy, room had light from the outside light coming in . Bathroom had some cracks on the floor . Love the shower products Dove with with cucumber and the fridge and microwave . Check out went smooth as well .

Subpar experience
This La Quinta was in the process of being renovated---something I believe should be mentioned in the general description that places like Hotels.com provide. The hallways on the two levels that I saw were torn up, as was the elevator. This would have been tolerable if the room I was given hadn't been so sub-par. The bathroom was so small, the shower curtain pull-back was the bathroom door knob. The floor was some kind of vinyl material and wasn't even close to being level. It wasn't very clean, either. The furniture was banged up, the bed was hard, and television service wasn't available. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy my pre-paid no-refund overnight stay and won't be coming back.

Usually when we come to stay at the La Quinta at 192 Newtown Road Virginia Beach Virginia we have an accident time relaxing time this time unfortunately we did not number one we were charged this time for my ESA cat Basil Lee who is my Emotional Support Animal because of my axiety, panic attacks due to my PTSD... Basil senses when I'm about to have an attack and always calms me down before or during the attack he knows how to calm me down regardless of the fact that he is a cat. Regardless of the fact that I had paperwork certifying him legally as my ESA and also stating that he is the same rights as a normal service animal I was charged this time the $25 pet fee considering that I had never been charged before it kind of threw me back, when we got to the room the light by the refrigerator by the little desk didn't work at all even when the light bulb was changed I notified the desk clerk he said he'd take care of it but he never came to take care of it the internet was out for hours because apparently they were working on it which meant the TV was out for hours however when the they were done our TV was not working and I had to call the desk clerk. It just wasn't what we're used to when we come to La Quinta which is a nice relaxing clean working rooms. However I will say that regardless of all this the general manager Henry is trying his best and he's an excellent manager
