"The unit we stayed in was well appointed and had everything we needed. They supplied much more than other timeshare units we have stayed in. We have arrived late and had enough toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, etc. to get us through the first few days. The decor was modern and, although the unit was surface cleaned, it could definitely use a deep cleaning. We had an issue with the dishwasher and dryer, both issues were resolved quickly by maintenance. The office staff was very friendly as was everyone we met on the grounds. There is only one small pool and hot tub at this location but we never found it overcrowded. It’s very close to the stores and Restaurants at Waikoloa but is a 30 to 40 minute drive to downtown Kona. We appreciated the location, but if you want to spend a lot of time in the Kona area, it might be a little far. The first seven days we were staying with our timeshare and found out that you need to pay $10 a day for air conditioning. We booked three additional days directly and apparently you don’t have to pay for air conditioning for those days. We did not wind up needing the air conditioning at all the whole time we were there but it’s something you’ll want to be aware of. Because it’s up in the mountains, a little bit, there was always a beautiful, cool breeze in the evenings. You need to be very mindful of the speed limits, we saw many people getting speeding tickets when we were there. Overall, I would recommend the Resort. "

"The hotel and beach are so nice! Snorkeling on the left side of the beach along the coast was the best we experienced on the big island or Kauai. My only regret is that we stayed and snorkeled here first and so my expectations were set extremely high. Nothing compared! A must stay. "

"Had a lovely last-minute stay in the Owl's Nest. We were not able to access the check-in instructions until after we arrived since there is no wifi in the surrounding area. But the in-house wifi -- and Darrin himself -- soon remedied that. As part of the Hasegawa family of Honoka'a, we will no doubt be back and would love to stay here again!"

Located on the sloping plane between Waimea and the coast, you'll be minutes away from civilization yet out on the open ranching grasslands with a spectacular view of the water... Check-in couldn't have been easier, Yumi was swift to respond to any communications, and the building itself is one-of-a-kind. I'd definitely go back."

"I arrived a little late due to car rental events. It was so nice of them to call to see if I was ok and still coming. I had been in Kukuihaele a couple of other times. Buzz met me when I arrived. He is very nice and showed me the place next to his shop which he never used while I was there. After a day I fell in love with the simple peaceful place with a wonderful view of nature. The little outdoor covered kitchen had all I needed. Best of all was sitting out there and eating all my meals and just sitting. Birds galore singing all day! And croaky frogs that sound like birds at night. Buzz keeps the grass mowed beautifully around the house and the field of fruit. I walked barefoot through the field to visit a neighbor. It was a special time. People are friendly. Waimea is close by and superb farmers markets! I had a wonderful time and have really fond memories staying in Kukuihaele. There are tangerine, few orange trees, bananas, guava (yum) coconuts, gardenias, gorgeous hibiscus 🌺…. Every morning I had a fruit salad. I walked every day to the Waipio Lookout. It’s a walk through the neighborhood. Everything is so green. You get to see and be a part of rural Hawaii and not crowded tourist places. Honokaa is the little town 9 miles away. It’s an old sugar cane town and really charming and full of nice people who live in the area and sweet shops and cafes. Love it! Hilo is a gorgeous drive and a great older town to visit too. Lots to do there."

"We have been coming to the Hawaiian Islands now for about 5 years. This home met all expectations and more. The owners are responsive to requests and comments and obviously take pride in their house The beds are very comfortable, the home was very clean, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for cooking, you can eat at the island or sit in the formal dinning room that sits 8 people, the bathrooms are large and spacious, the covered patio is a great place to sit on to enjoy the beauty of the landscape around you or to watch the stars at night. Waking up to the sounds of the birds singing is a great start to your day. I could go on and on about how great this place is. You can't go wrong. You do need a car, however, the home is located minutes from some of the nicest sandy beach’s on the Island Spencer Beach, Hapuna Beach, Beach 67, Beach 69, wonderful farmers markets in Waimea, Waikoloa (A beach) and Waikoloa Village. The Ala Khaki National HistoricTrail is a great hike and if you start your Hike at the Spencer Beach Visitor Center you get an idea of the history of the area and an understanding of how the Island began.
