Spend a sunny day exploring this picturesque green space, a community hub that is within easy walking distance of Warnemünde’s biggest attractions.

Warnemünde Kurpark is a historic public park that remains important to the local community today. Located close to the town center, this scenic place is the ideal spot for a stroll or a lazy afternoon picnic. Join the many locals and tourists who love spending time in the Kurpark, especially in the warmer months.

The idea for a park in this spot was first put forward as early as 1795. However, it took around three-quarters of a century for the plan to be carried out. This is when the initial planting began, overseen by Alexander Louis Wachtler, a merchant who was commissaire of Rostock at the time.

Wander the park today and you will find its size much reduced. Originally, it covered a much greater area, but as the town grew it got smaller and smaller. However, in 1999 a project to recover some of those lost green spaces got underway.

Take some time out in this tranquil park to relax. Walk along the paths and pause to take a look at the sculptures dotted around. Notice that there are also a few pretty historic houses to admire. If you have kids with you, let them run wild in the little playground area. If the weather isn’t good, take a seat in the park’s small reading room and enjoy some quiet time with a good book.

Just next to the Kurpark is the Kurhaus, an early 20th-century building that now has a restaurant in it. Take a seat at one of its outdoor tables and enjoy wonderful sea views. Check what is on before you visit, as many concerts and other events take place here throughout the year.

Warnemünde Kurpark is located in the heart of Warnemünde’s main area. Set aside a day to explore everything nearby and you will find plenty to do. The pretty Warnemünde Lighthouse is less than 10 minutes’ walk away, while other attractions including Warnemünde Church and the Heimatmuseum (Heritage Museum) are also close by.
