Hatcher Pass Sweet Spot~Fresh Eggs & Local Coffee!
Private guest suite in a rural subdivision at the base of Hatcher Pass.
Outside you`ll find a patio with a smokeless fire pit and a chicken coop.
In summer, you`ll find freshly grown goods that you are welcome to pick and use when in season and two kayaks that are available for your use. Inside is a stylish and cozy one bedroom guest suite with a full kitchen that is furnished with art and goods made by local artists & artisans.
This space is a 1bd/1ba suite with a full kitchen. We`ll provide you some farm fresh eggs from the chicken coop, and a coffee sample from a local coffee roaster a few miles away. You are also welcome to use anything growing in the garden. Depending on the season, some of the things available may be: lettuce, chard, beets, radishes, thyme, rosemary, mint, chives, sage, parsley, oregano, rhubarb, strawberries, blueberries, honey berries, currants, raspberries, and apples. There is a hammock and a smokeless fire pit available on the patio. We also have two kayaks that you are welcome to use free of charge (additional cost if you need them transported).
Inside, the space is decorated with art & goods made by local artists and artisans. The living room is filled with books about Alaska and books written by local authors. There is also a TV with access to Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and some board games. There is a guitar, banjo, fiddle, and ukulele hanging on the wall that would love to be played (but will probably need to be tuned!).
The bedroom has a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, blackout shades, a large walk in closet, a tv, and a sound maker that displays the northern lights. The overhead light dims, and there are USB ports on the bedside table lamps for easy phone charging.
The bathroom has a shower & tub combo and plenty of storage. You find toilet paper, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, and a first aid kit provided to you.
There is also a small laundry room with a washer and dryer, and an iron and ironing board available for your use.
The space is ideal for two people, but can accommodate up to four people with the sofa bed in the living room. There is a three inch memory foam mattress to place on the sofa bed in order to increase comfort.
For even more info, read the captions in the photos.
You`ll have private access to the driveway, patio with container gardens in the summer, and the entire one bedroom guest suite. There is also a garden area at the beginning of your driveway that has blueberries, apple trees, raspberries, and honey berries in the summertime.
From the outside, walking around to the other side of the house leads to my family`s yard & living space.
We live in a rural subdivision at the base of Hatcher Pass. The lots are one to five acres in size, so there is plenty of space and privacy, but you also might see the neighbors out in their yard or the kids riding bikes or four wheelers in the street. There is a local gas station/ice cream stop, a little bar, and also a pizza place within a mile or so, but otherwise most services will be in Palmer or Wasilla. Palmer has great breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques. We are very close to all the recreational activities in Hatcher Pass.
Here are some distances, to give you an idea:
8 miles to downtown Palmer (13 minutes) 12.2 miles to Wasilla (20 minutes) 46.2 miles to Anchorage (52 minutes)
Recreational activities:
3.4 miles to Little Susitna River 3.8 miles to Government Peak Recreation Area 3.9 miles to Government Peak trailhead and blueberry knoll 5.9 miles to Skeetawk skiing area 8.8 miles to Gold Mint Trailhead 11.3 miles Fishhook Trailhead 11.9 miles Reed Lakes Trailhead 13.1 Gold Cord Lake 13.2 miles Independence Mine State Historical Park 13.7 miles April Bowl Trailhead
A car is required to get around, and AWD is handy in the winter. You`ll have a driveway with a couple parking spots available to you.
The space is a walkout basement apartment attached to our house, but it has its own private driveway, staircase, and entrance. You will hear us living above you (dogs, footsteps, voices, watching movies, etc.), or see me out on your patio watering the plants or collecting chicken eggs, but otherwise you will have the space entirely to yourself. We have a snow plow service that includes shoveling the stairs and patio, so you may see someone shoveling if it has just snowed.
There are a dozen stairs (or a small hill in the summer) to climb to access the apartment. Though we shovel them after snowfalls, the stairs on that hill struggle with snow drifts from the frequent and infamous Palmer winter winds and are often covered in some snow. We provide a snow shovel and ice melt for your use.
We are on a well and septic tank, so please don`t flush anything but toilet paper down the toilets.
We are on a shared HVAC system and keep the system mostly off in the summer time and at 70 degrees in the winter. We provide space heaters, fans, and blankets when needed. We don`t have air conditioning (it isn`t very common in Alaska), but because it is a walkout basement the windows let light and heat in from the sun but it generally stays relatively cool in the apartment during the summer and warm in the winter.
The space is very relaxing and relatively quiet, but there are some noises you will likely hear during your stay. These may include my family living in our house upstairs above the apartment the chickens clucking while laying eggs, neighborhood kids and dogs, or the water pump and HVAC system which are both located downstairs. Because of the shared HVAC, you also may smell our breakfast, lunch, or dinner cooking. • Please keep overnight guest numbers the same as your reservation and let us know if plans change. • Please keep noise low between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM outdoors. • Parties, events, and large gatherings are not allowed. • Smoking and vaping are not allowed inside the home. If smoking outside, please dispose of cigarette butts and keep exterior doors and windows closed while smoking so smoke doesn’t enter the home. • Pets are not allowed, unless pre-approved. • Please treat the home with care and report any damage or maintenance needs. • Please do not unplug or disable safety equipment, including smoke & carbon monoxide detectors.
Have fun and let us know if you need anything!

Tho we didn’t stay long, it was nice to have a place near Hatcher Pass after skiing. Nice way to present recommendations of places to eat and things to do. Website easy to navigate.
My husband and I were in town for a sports tournament and wanted a “getaway” in the process. This property fit the bill. We appreciated that multiple high schools were an easy commute for the events we needed to attend. Everything was well executed. We really could not have asked for a nicer place to stay. It’s was clean, quiet and felt like home. The finishing touches and attention to detail helped to make this place extra special. I would highly recommend this property! A true gem!
Our stay was perfect. We had everything we needed. The place was cute, clean and had an outdoor space to enjoy the view. There was plenty of privacy and the host was very accommodating. We chose Palmer for its central location that allowed for day trips. Highly recommended.
Comfortable, beautiful space in a great location! Would definitely return when in the area!

I loved everything about this property. Kelly was an amazing host and the chickens were lovely. The location was great and the decor was beautiful. 10/10 would stay again!
Private area with zero noise to interrupt sleep, and dark shades made the night easy. Eggs were delicious in the morning. Parking was great with illuminated stairs to the door.

This property was comfortable and nicely decorated with high-end appliances and furniture. The hosts responded quickly whenever I sent them a message and often checked in to ensure everything was going well. The little touches made this for a unique and pleasant stay.
Really enjoyed my stay at Kelly's place. She answered all my questions promptly and had great advice for where to go to see the Northern Lights. The apartment is on the ground floor, so the floor is a little cold in February, but she supplied some disposable slippers to wear. Really nice touch. Thanks, Kelly!
Very nice. Very clean, everything we needed was there. . Fresh eggs from adorable chickens was a nice touch. The only thing that prevented a perfect rating was hearing the hosts walk around upstairs. Not terrible, but mildly annoying.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this property. It felt like home; comfortable and cozy. The host truly put a lot of thought into the small details of making the property feel like home. She provided fresh eggs from her chickens and local coffee. The kitchen is well stocked. There were thick throw blankets to wrap up in. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. And the pillows were hotel (Hilton) quality. The towels were large and soft. There were a variety of games and books. We enjoyed a fire on the back patio. The host was easy to reach and responded to our inquiries quickly. We absolutely loved this property. We highly recommend this property.
