Relax in the compact and quiet Wentworth Park, a pocket of green in the center of Downtown Lansing. The park sits on the edge of the Grand River and is close to some of the most interesting attractions in Michigan’s capital city. Take a seat beneath the shade of its trees and enjoy views of the cityscape and the charming riverfront.
Reflect for a moment by the Remembrance Memorial in the center of the park. This humble monument is a tribute to the lives lost on 9/11. The lawns by the river banks allow for contemplation and quietness away from the busy city center.
The park also features a striking art deco clock donated by the local rotary club. Admire the rocket-shaped, steam-powered timepiece, which features an electric carillon. The 31-foot (9-meter) clock plays tunes twice a day and the sides are made of glass to let you see its inner workings.
Visit Wentworth Park as part of a journey along the Lansing River Trail, an extensive walking and cycling trail that takes in some of the best sights in the city. The trail runs along the bank on the opposite side of the river from the park.
Admire the clear views of the Lansing Center, a modern building with a striking dark glass frontage. The center is used for exhibitions, events and conferences.
Explore the area surrounding the park, which is packed with amenities to suit its downtown setting. Banks, hotels and restaurants line the streets here. Attractions such as the Impression 5 Science Center and the Lansing Art Gallery are just a short walk from the park.
Wentworth Park is located just moments from some of the most famous sights in Downtown Lansing. Walk here in under 5 minutes from the State Capitol and the surrounding church buildings. Alternatively, ride a bus to one of the stops adjacent to the river. The park is free to enter and is open throughout the year.
