The Old Chapel dates from 1809, a converted Methodist chapel and listed Grade II as of architectural or historic interest. An easily recognisable property, set amongst pretty stone cottages that run along the river 'Wey' through the picturesque village of Upwey, just a short drive from the popular seaside town of Weymouth. The Old Chapel has recently been lovingly converted into a holiday home, and provides a perfect base for families or friends looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay, yet still within easy reach of amenities and entertainment.
Having been recently repurposed into a holiday home, the owners have taken great time and care lovingly furnishing and styling the Chapel, to offer a unique place to stay with guests comfort in mind. The ground floor kitchen / dining room offers a sociable and spacious entertaining area, with a newly fitted kitchen, hard wood floors and a farmhouse style dining table. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms; one double bedroom and one twin zip and link which can be joined to make a King size bed on request (please request bed make up at the time of booking) along with a family shower room and utlity room.
One of the most impressive features of the Chapel are the original stone mullion windows, in the first floor Drawing Room, which frame the countryside views beyond. Also on the first floor is the King size master bedroom and adjacent family bathroom; complete with roll top bath and seperate walk in shower.
From upstairs you can walk out on to a roof terrace, complete with a dining table for alfresco dining and a gas BBQ. The terrace is perfect for sitting out and enjoying the view. At ground level, there is a small front garden surrounded by a stone wall and a paved rear garden, where there is the possibility to park a car on the paved area to the rear of the property. Pets welcome!
The village of Upwey is home to plentiful countryside walks along the steady stream that runs through the village. Stop off at The Wishing Well; a quaint village tea rooms serving coffee and freshly baked cakes, as well as breakfast and lunches. The cafe also has its own adjoining water gardens to enjoy. Also within walking distance from the Chapel are two country pubs and a convenience store selling essentials.
