Take advantage of the golden beach stretching from Whitby to Sandsend, which forms part of the stunning Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast, home to towering cliffs, rocky shores, steep wooded valleys, sheltered bays and sandy beaches. It is a coastline of dramatic views, with the highest point on the east coast of England found at Boulby, near Staithes, where the cliffs are a mighty 200 metres high. Photographic villages and tranquil bays are dotted along the coast.
In Whitby itself, there is plenty to keep all ages entertained. Famous for its fish and chips, Whitby has many award-winning seafood restaurants, as well as trendy bars along the harbour side. Further afield is the North York Moors National Park, which you can explore on the heritage steam train which departs from Whitby station, and see some stunning scenery.
