Try out an extensive selection of interactive exhibits and lose yourself in deep space at one of the U.K.’s largest digital planetariums.

Find out what the inside of a black hole looks like or set off to the far corners of the solar system at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium. Put yourself to the test with the fascinating science centre’s range of games, which includes scoring points in wheelchair basketball and landing a plane at Heathrow Airport.

With 100 different interactive displays, it is easy to spend hours discovering the wonders of science at this excellent centre. Discover the science of sport or music through hands-on exhibits and demonstrations that appeal to both adults and children.

Have a go on the air cannon that demonstrates how sound travels through air. Head over to the flight simulator and take control of a commercial jet during its descent. If you are keen on physics and engineering, you can learn the secrets of building a bridge. Visitors with an interest in music can explore how musical sounds are produced using computers.

Give your arms a workout shooting some hoops in the wheelchair basketball area. For something less active, see if you have what it takes to control a ball using only your mind.

After visits to all your favourite stations, make your way to the spectacular 176-seat planetarium. Gaze in amazement as the huge domed screen immerses you in an enthralling film or a live show. Fly to the edge of space in search of aliens or journey into the human body to get a close-up look at how it really functions. Shows are carefully designed to be ideal for all ages, while special viewings on Saturday evenings take a more in-depth approach to some of the wonders of our universe.

Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium is located 3 miles (4.8 kilometres) east of Winchester in nearby Morn Hill. The centre is open daily and there is a small admission fee. Check the website for more information on the centre’s programming and evening shows.
