My daughter and I stayed at the carriage house for a few days during our bike-NewEngland & forget-CoVid getaway. The carriage house is in the most amazing location you could ask for. It feels remote, which you want during a pandemic, but is actually directly across the street from the most desirable part of Woodstock (IMO) the national park and Billings-Marsh farm, both of which are bending over backward to provide safely accessible, but still enriching experiences. The town is also lovely with charming architectural features, including the covered bridge, which made for pleasant biking.
I understand what the reviewer was trying to say about the river-view: I think it‘s kind of low right now, and the bushes are quite grown up, so you cannot actually see it clearly from the windows, but it’s right in the back yard, and there is excellent access via a well maintained rocky descent, right next to the bridge immediately around the street corner, (left from the driveway)
Kitchen is well-equipped, and nice, easy laundry access, always appreciated. Another great perk to be able to put bikes in the garage. The updating of the classic carriage house removed some of the old-world charm, but it’s still a pleasant space, very clean and functional. Thanks for sharing and for excellent responsiveness, Rachel!
