Artist's secluded country villa, on a hill with magnificent view, within 2,5 acres of olive and citrus grove overlooking the Corinthian bay. 4km away from the sea, close to important archeological sites and lovely beaches.
The house consists of two floors and a lower ground floor (used for storage). The ground floor has a spacious living room, a dining area, the artist studio, a large kitchen, a single bedroom and a bathroom. The first floor has four bedrooms (two are intercommunicating) and one bathroom. The house has ceiling fans in bedrooms to provide cool during hot summer days. The house, which is surrounded by terraces and balconies, is ideal for enjoying indoor or outdoor activities, with plenty of space for children's play but at the same time providing privacy to those that prefer to read, hear music or simply relax. There is a small outdoor basketball terrain as well as an indoor table tennis table in an adjacent store room separate from the main house. The location is ideal for swimming and hiking, following walking paths through olive groves and wild flowers. If a guest has an artistic inclination and wants to paint or draw indoors or be inspired by the wonderful landscape the owner's study room is equipped with a working table and easel.
Guests are free to use the entire house, but are not allowed to add extra sleeping facilities beyond the eight beds provided. (three double beds and two single). The lower ground floor store rooms shall remain locked with no access to guests. There is a separate store room building next to the house which is not to be used by guests except to access the table tennis facility inside it. Guests may wonder around the olive and citrus grove, pick up any fruit (depending on the time of year) visit the natural water spring and the irrigation cisterns, taking the due care, especially with children.
Guests will have the freedom to communicate with the owners to solve any problem arising or to ask any kind of advice regarding their stay. For emergency purposes there will be always someone to contact by phone in the immediate area.
Although the house is isolated and provides peace and quiet, it is not far from necessary amenities. The sea front is within 4 km. Small supermarkets, taverns, two chemists, a butcher shop, can all be found within a distance of 4 to 6 kms. For more shops, clothing, nightlife, restaurants, cinema, medical facilities, bookshops, etc one needs to drive not more than 10 kms to the nearest town of Xylokastron. The house is an ideal location to organize visits to important archeological sites like Ancient Corinth, picturesque landscape like nearby lakes, enjoy plain or organized beaches, seaside restaurants with fresh fish and local delicacies. If one feels like driving a bit longer, the famous ancient theater of Epidaurus, or the glory of Mycenae are within reach. On the other hand if someone decides to spend most of his time at the house, he may still enjoy walking in the surrounding rural area amongst olive and lemon trees, vine yards, cypresses and pines.
The use of a car is a necessity for guests. No public transport can be found nearby. However a taxi can be called from the nearby town of Xylokastron. The nearest public bus station to and from Athens is in Xylokastron (10 km away). The nearest suburban train can be found in Kiaton (25 kms) where trains run every hour to and from Athens as well as to and from the Athens Airport. The house can also be reached from the port of Patras within about two hours.
WATER SUPPLY. Running tap water comes from a specially built, covered cistern and is non drinkable. It is however safe for all other use. Bottled water should be used for drinking.
Two large and one small outdoor cisterns are used for irrigation purposes and water should strictly not be used for any other purpose. There is a natural water spring within the grove. The water is used for irrigation and although clean it is advisable not to drink it. These cisterns are uncovered and should be approached with care, especially by kids.
A worker will be visiting the plot of land every about 10 days during summer to irrigate the trees and generally look after the grove. He may as well be contacted for any general house problems.
The house and surrounding patios are equipped with a burglar alarm. It is at the discretion of the guests to use it, but it is advisable to activate it when away from the house.
This is a self catering accommodation. Linen and towels will be amply provided, and outside cleaning help may be arranged if needed at the visitors expence. The house has Internet access, Flat TV, dishwasher, washing machine and all the necessary utensils and equipment for a fully functional kitchen.
