The location of the property is a 15 min walk from train station and a 10 min walk into town. Very accessible. Quiet and safe surroundings. The main positive of this hotel is the staff - friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Great bartenders and a lovely room to sit and drink. I would recommend the restaurant - food was great. Def a place I would stay at next time I’m in York.

Lovely hotel with quirky decor. A real gem and within easy walking distance of the station and city centre. Great that the staff will pick up your luggage from the station on arrival and it was in our room when we arrived. Afternoon tea was wonderful and we loved the pantry and record player in our room. A wonderful Hotel just slightly away from the centre of York, but very, very walkable from the station and anywhere you might like to visit. The staff were engaging, wonderfully helpful, the room was perfect and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future. Other touches like the "Pantry" and convenient onsite parking made it a real joy to stay.

Loved the unique features - a free snack pantry (sweets, drinks, fruit etc.), traditional record player in each room and records to pick and choose from, quirky but tasteful decorations. Very comfortable, clean, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with easy to use push button bath/shower (no trying to work out which knob or lever to push or pull!), very comfortable underfloor heating in the bathroom. I’ve stayed in their sister hotel No42 in Margate a couple of times and it’s excellent. Well No1 York did not disappoint it was beautiful friendly and luxurious! I love this little group of hotels and can’t recommend highly enough! One rue of thumb for me with hotels is how much the staff are invested and seem proud to work there and they do in spades here. Just fabulous, I’ll be back.
