"We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay a 6Stanco. Ruth is an excellent host, providing us with lots of advice both before and during our stay. The appartment is very comfortable and well equipped. Stanco is a small village but the local shop in Grizzana is well stocked and larger supermarkets are available in nearby towns. Both Florence and Bologna can be visited from the local train station, with rail fares making it a cheaper option than driving. There are a couple of restaurants within...

"The first and biggest problem is that the apartment smelt like a sewer and the smell became worse by the day. On top of that, it was so damp that my clothes were moist. The aircon didn’t work. This was a problem in March when it wasn’t even 15 degrees so must be hell in the summer. The TV didn’t work either. Very, very basic amenities and stupid things like an iron but no ironing board. Little things like salt and pepper or a bit of washing powder cost a host very little but mean a lot to...
