"A group of 9 of us from the UK and France went to Rio to celebrate a 6oth Birthday. We chose Alex’s house because of the central location, views and pool. We were not disappointed. The house is in a trendy area filled with bars and restaurants and is a Grand Old Lady perched near the top of the hill. "AVOID! This place was an absolute nightmare! Ants, roaches, and bedbugs all over the place! When I arrived, the place was unclean from the last guest and the hotel did not care. There is no front desk. BEWARE: It is in the favela and very dangerous even during the day! The pictures are deceptive. I left before my booking ended. You could not pay me to stay here again! "

"This is my second time staying here. It is clean, pleasant, and reasonably priced. Most appreciate that it is in the touristy area of Santa Teresa and near LAPA. That is nice too. There's also a great view of the center from most rooms. My only minus, which isn't tied to the place, is that if you're out late, it can be difficult to get an uber up into the steep hills of Santa Teresa. Most taxis will though."
