With a wealth of museums, galleries, cafés and restaurants, you’ll have more than enough to keep you busy in this vibrant central Denver neighbourhood.

The Golden Triangle, a neighbourhood just south of downtown Denver, is home to many of the city’s top landmarks and attractions, with museums, galleries, theatres and restaurants. As one of the oldest neighbourhoods, you’ll find an eclectic mix of architectural styles, from late 19th century family homes to the 18-story French-style Prado building, completed in 2002.

Eight museums are to be found here, thanks to the development of the Civic Centre Park, a hub of arts, culture, history and government dating back to 1919. The Denver Art Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in both fine art and architecture, as well as the Kirkland Museum of Fine and Decorative Art. Learn about local history at Byers-Evans House Museum, or explore the History Colorado Centre, the most recent addition, having opened in 2012.

The neighbourhood buzzes with cultural activity. Many old warehouses and garages have been transformed in to artists’ studios and galleries. It is also home to the Curious Theatre Company, which focuses on the creation of new plays. Check online for the season programme.

Those in need of retail therapy should make their way to South Broadway. Shops selling unique vintage clothes sit side-by-side with couture boutiques, so you are sure to find a treasure to suit your budget. There are also many charming cafés and restaurants should you need rest and refreshment, and if you stay late into the evening, the bars and nightclubs serve up excellent cocktails.

Colfax Avenue is another area not to be missed. Once a street with a somewhat less than wholesome reputation, it is now a bustling mix of cafés, bars, boutiques and book shops. Once the sun sets, head for the South of Colfax Nightlife District to dance the night away at some of Denver’s best nightclubs.
