What you can expect
On this popular 14-day Annapurna Trek you’ll experience the spectacular beauty of the Nepalese Himalayas on various day treks and marvel at views of the Annapurna massif. You’ll go on sunrise hikes, valley and mountain treks, rafting on the Trisuli River, and a jungle safari in Chitwan. In addition, you’ll be shown the sights of Kathmandu and have to explore this exotic city on your own as well.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport
Prior to landing at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, you may well have some stunning views of snow-capped mountains! After clearing customs, you’ll be met by our tour coordinator and taken to your hotel in Kathmandu – the Hotel Vaishali or Manasalu Garden or another hotel of the same category.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley Culture Tour
After breakfast your guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu including Durbar Square in the heart of the city. This is home to the entire Royal Palace complex and is filled with monuments of historical significance. You’ll also visit the Boudhanath Stupa, known as Little Tibet. This is the largest stupa in South Asia.
Day 3: Flight to Pokhara and Trek to Ghandruk
In the early morning you’ll take a 30-minute flight from Kathmandu over the Himalayas to Pokhara. You’ll then travel on to Nayapul to begin your trek to Ghandruk. This is a 1950-meter ascent and a 5-6 hour walk through typical Himalayan valley scenery. You’ll enjoy magnificent views of Annapurna South, Himculi, Fishtail Mountain, and Gangapurna Himal. Your overnight accommodation is at a trekking lodge in Ghandruk.
Day 4: Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani
You’ll have breakfast at the lodge before beginning your 4-5 hour trek to Tadapani. The walk takes you through unique terraced terrain. You’ll stop for lunch on the way and continue the trek through hilly terrain, crossing a river and climbing up to Tadapani (2721 metres). Your walk will take you through a forest of rhododendrons, oaks, magnolias, and orchids. You’ll enjoy amazing views of Annapurna South, Himchulli, and Machhapuchare during the trek as well.
Day 5: Trek from Tadapani to Gorepani
After breakfast you’ll head out on a 6-7 hour trek from Tadapani to Gorepani. You’ll make a 2850-meter ascent through a wonderful forest of rhododendrons, oaks, magnolias, and orchids. The trail makes a descent for around 30 minutes and then ascends steeply for around 1 hour. At Deurali, you’ll stop for lunch and a rest and enjoy breathtaking views of the snowy mountains. From Deurali pass, the trail descends to Ghorepani.
Day 6: Early Morning Poonhill Visit and Trek from Gorepani
Early in the morning you’ll go on a 45-minute hike to Poon Hill, at 3210 metres. You’ll have spectacular views of the Annapurna massif including Dhaulagri (at 8167 metres), Mt. Lamjung, Tukuche Peak, Nilgri Himal, Thapa Peak, and Tent Peak. You’ll also enjoy beautiful sunrise views before heading back to Ghorepani. After breakfast you’ll begin the day’s trek through the rhododendron forest to Hile, a quaint village situated at 1495 metres. You’ll make the descent to Banthati, and have lunch at Uleri. After lunch, you make the steep descent to Trikhedunga, followed by a comfortable walk to Hile. Your overnight stay will be at a lodge in Hile.
Day 7: Trek from Hile to Nayapool and Drive to Pokhara
After breakfast at Hile, you’ll trek to Nayapul and then travel to Pokhara via Naudada, where you’ll check in at the Hotel Katinpur or another hotel of the same category. You’ll have a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature in Pokhara.
Day 8: Sunrise Tour to Sarangkot
On an early morning drive to Sarangkot you’ll have excellent views of the snow-capped mountains and the spectacular sunrise. The driver will take you back to the hotel where you’ll have breakfast, and then on a sightseeing tour to a Tibetan refugee camp and David Falls. In the evening you’ll go on a boat tour around Fewa Lake.
Day 9: Trisuli River Rafting and Chitwan National Park
After breakfast you’ll head out to Point Charudi/Fishling for a morning rafting trip on the Trisuli River. You’ll then travel to Royal Chitwan National Park in a private deluxe car and, on arrival, check in at the Chitwan Riverside Resort or accommodation of the same category. You’ll have dinner at the resort and enjoy Tharu dancing during the evening. Your overnight stay will be in Chitwan.
Day 10: Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour
On this full-day jungle excursion you’ll be on the lookout for the great 1-horned rhinoceros, different species of deer and crocodiles, sloth bear, leopards, the royal Bengal tiger, and more than 450 species of exotic birds. You’ll walk through the jungle and travel by canoe on the river to spot crocodiles and birds. Your overnight stay will be in Chitwan.
Day 11: Chitwan to Kathmandu
In the early morning our naturalist guide will take you to a prime sport for bird-watching. You’ll have breakfast at the resort and then travel from Chitwan to Kathmandu.
Day 12: Bhaktapur and Patan
Enjoy spectacular sunrise views over the Himalayan ranges. Afterwards, you’ll have breakfast at the hotel and then head to Bhaktapur, where you can see excellent examples of wood carvings. From there the drive continues to Patan, a city of art and beauty, before the trip back to Kathmandu, where you’ll check in at the Hotel Vaishali or Manaslu or another hotel of the same category.
Day 13: Kathmandu
You’ll have free time in Kathmandu. In the evening, there is a farewell dinner held at a local traditional restaurant.
Day 14: End of Tour
You will be met at your hotel for the transfer to Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure.
